How I Organize My Blogging Agenda

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Last Monday, I shared with y'all how I organized my Lilly Pulitzer agenda that I use for school and my social life (missed it? read it here!). Honestly until this school year, I didn't use a agenda for blogging (I just used Google Calendar) but after seeing Dorothy's Lilly Pulitzer vs. Day Designer video, I headed right over to my local Target to pick up an agenda from their collaboration with Day Designer. My Target was all sold out of the larger size so I picked up the smaller size, which wound up being the perfect size for keeping track of all of my blogging.

I picked up the small blue agenda (which is under $10!) and it is so cute!

This is the first page of the agenda and I think the stripes are such a cute touch! The next page also shares Whitney English's story of creating her agendas!

This is the monthly view. Compared to the Lilly agenda, the page is a lot more streamlined and also has lines on the space for each date. I simply write down the name of each  post and I have it color coded as you can see from the top where I explain that pink= my chic week, purple= outfit post, light blue= recipes, green= fashion, dark blue= life, orange= blogging, and red is for my posts for Our Campus Media!

The weekly view of the Day Designer is very simple as well. I love the built in to do lists and the space on the top for each week's top three!

A more close up look of the weekly view. I simply write the post for the day in the color for the category it belongs in from the monthly view. I have a check list for scheduling the post, instagramming that day, tweeting the link (which Bloglovin does for me now, be sure to follow me on Bloglovin here!), pinning the link (follow me here!), and any other tasks for that day's post, such as taking pictures.

The last few pages of the agenda are notes which I am currently using to write down post ideas for each month. Have any post ideas? Let me know in the comments!

Hope y'all enjoyed this peek into my Day Designer agenda that I use for blogging and be sure to leave any posts requests in the comments!

Fall Bucket List

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Now that it is almost October, I finally feel that it is actually fall. I know that fall officially started like last week but you know North Carolina doesn't like to play by those rules and it's not what I consider to be normal fall temperatures. Anyways, October-November is typically when NC decides to be more in the fall range. I decided to put together a list of all the fun, fall-themed activities I want to do in the next few months!
I am looking forward to all of fall and hopefully accomplishing as many of these activities as possible before winter (don't want to think of winter quite yet!)!

Are any of these things on your fall bucket list? What activities are looking forward to this fall? Let me know in the comments!

By the Bay

Monday, September 28, 2015

Happy Monday (well as happy as a Monday can be!)! I'm sorry this post is going up a bit late today, I've had a busy weekend and day from trying to catch up in schoolwork from my three days away last week.

Anyways, I have a super fun outfit post for y'all from my trip to Alabama. The hotel where my family and I stayed was gorgeous and I kept on thinking "oh, that would be a perfect spot for pictures". One afternoon, my brother and I walked around the hotel and took these pictures!

This outfit has been pretty much my uniform this summer: cute top, Lilly shorts, and sandals! I think this (maybe) will be my last "summery" outfit post of the season so how fitting it is one of my favorites!

My Chic Week September 18-24

Friday, September 25, 2015

Oh gosh, this has been quite the week. I just wanted to start off by saying I like to have my blog be a positive place so I tend to not share the negative details of my everyday life. This past week hasn't been my favorite since my grandmother passed away last Friday from cancer so I am currently in Alabama for her funeral.

Last Friday, I got my wisdom teeth out so my day pretty much consisted of watching Say Yes to the Dress and Four Weddings on TV and eating a lot of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. Later in the day, when I was feeling a bit better, I was able to get some of my homework done!

The rest of my weekend was very relaxed as I spent Saturday morning organizing, blogging, and doing some homework! My mom and I ran a few errands after lunch then I spent a few more hours doing homework! Later that night, I babysat. Sunday was full of AP Lit reading and APUSH studying.

Some adorable to do lists I bought over the weekend. Cute to do lists make lots of work to do a lot more fun (at least in my opinion)!

Monday was my only full day of classes this week and it was busy to say the least! After school, I came home to do a little homework before leaving for my Faith Formation class. After Faith Formation, I ate dinner and then worked on a study guide for one of my classes.

On Tuesday, my school had a service day at a local elementary school so I spent the day helping out in a special needs classroom and then helping out around the school! It was a lot of fun and it was nice to get out of class for the day and to also help others!

On Wednesday, my family and I drove 9 hours to Alabama for my grandmother's funeral. Once we arrived, we relaxed at our hotel then headed over to my grandfather's for dinner. Unfortunately, I had to head back to the hotel early since I had a giant APUSH study guide due on Thursday night that I had to get done so I worked on that for a while at the hotel.

A stop at Starbucks was very necessary during the 9 hour drive!

Thursday, we slept in and got ready for the funeral. We had breakfast at a little cafe and then spent the morning and early afternoon at the funeral. This has been a hard trip because it feels like a vacation because our hotel is gorgeous and has views of the bay but I have to keep reminding myself we aren't here on vacation (so don't take my Instagrams as me being on vacation!) not to mention losing my grandmother. I spent the afternoon working on homework. We had dinner at the hotel and then swam in the hotel pool after dinner which was a lot of fun!

The gorgeous sunset

On my radar:

1. It has been 10 years since the time capsule episode of Zoey 101 (one of my favorite childhood shows) and TeenNick finally revealed what Zoey said about Chase! Check out the clip here!

2. Loved this vlog from Dorothy on her life at college!

3. Tory Burch just launched a sports line and it is gorgeous! Definitely very pricy but the pieces are adorable! I love that there is a whole section of clothes for "coming and going" that are perfect for thinking "what do you mean you are actually supposed to workout in workout clothes??".

4. Love these tips on how to start your week off right!

5. Carly of The College Prepster and her boyfriend, Garrett, just launched a YouTube channel and it is definitely one to watch!

A Day in My Life

Thursday, September 24, 2015

I thought a super fun way for y'all to get to know me a bit better and peek into my everyday life would be share my daily schedule. I love having a schedule and getting into a routine as I find I get so much more done. I also like having a schedule just so I can kind of know what to expect for each day (kind of weird, I know!). I am pretty sure that my schedule is going to be the same until probably Christmas Break-ish, so I thought it would be fun to share!

My days have been quite busy lately (#junioryearproblems) but I am glad that I have gotten into a routine so I can get things done!

Do you have a daily routine? Let me know in the comments!

J. Crew Warehouse Sale Recap + Tips

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

As mentioned in last week's My Chic Week (read it here), I went to the J. Crew Warehouse Sale in Charlotte two Saturdays ago. Typically the J. Crew Warehouse Sales are in Asheville, North Carolina but when I found out they were having one here in Charlotte, I was so excited. It started on a Thursday and since I had school, I went on the last day of the sale.

The sale was set to start at 10 AM, so my mom and I arrived at 9:30 just in case there was a line. Surprisingly, there was no line and the sale actually started, so we walked right in and started shopping.

There is an overwhelming amount of clothes, shoes, and accessories once you walk in. Like probably 20 sets of 4 large folding tables full of boxes and boxes of assorted clothes. Not to mention several hanging rods of bridesmaids dresses, dresses, and blazers. The back section of the warehouse had probably 10 folding tables full of shoes also.

Unfortunately, all of the clothes were mixed up so it was hard to tell what sections of the room were pants, tops, skirts, dresses, etc. or what size since they were mixed into all of the boxes. Although, after digging through boxes, you are able to find some pretty great deals! After two hours of sorting through boxes to find what we wanted, my mom and I were able to find a ton of clothes for around $200, which is practically unheard of when shopping at J. Crew normally.

I would definitely say our biggest hits were casual tops, shoes, and then pants. I hoped to find a few casual dresses to wear to school but they were a lot of bridesmaids dresses (I did find one dress though, don't worry!) and I didn't see any of the ever-popular puffer vest!

The price list, if y'all are interested!

Holding my mom and I's haul in front of the sign after shopping
My haul!

The verdict: Even though it was quite overwhelming (there was so many clothes), my mom and I found a ton of great deals! I will definitely go to a J. Crew Warehouse Sale again!

Now for some Tips for a Warehouse Sale if you ever find yourself at one:

Wear Tight Fitting Workout Clothes
The J. Crew Warehouse Sale didn't have any fitting rooms so if you wanted to try it on, you had to try it on over your clothes. Wear tighter workout clothes (see what I'm wearing above!) so you can easily slip items on and off! I also recommend wearing flip flops so it is easier to try things on!

Check for Quality
Some of the items in the sale had holes, missing buttons, or stains on them. Be sure to double check your items to make sure the quality is the best possible. Also, when looking at the jewelry, be sure to check that it doesn't have any pieces

Don't Buy it Just Because It's on Sale
If you don't love it, don't buy it! If it doesn't fit you properly, don't buy it (I definitely needed this advice once finding a pair of chinos I loved but sadly didn't fit properly)!

Try it On
Think you know your size in something? Just quickly slip it on and be sure! Also, sometimes clothes look different on so be sure to try it on before buying it!

Be Civil (aka don't fight with someone over a pair of $8 chino shorts)
Luckily, I didn't witness any fights during the sale but try to be nice to the other people around you. Don't take anything out of other people's hands and say excuse me when it's crowded. There is no need to find yourself worked up over this and reminder, it is just clothes (not the end of the world!).

College Tours: The Questions to Ask

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

I am a high school junior this year and that means a lot of things are going on, including it is time to begin to seriously look into colleges. I have toured around a dozen colleges so far from going on college trips with my grade (read about last year's trip here and here) and then last summer I toured Auburn with my family. I know fall is a very popular time to tour as colleges hold open houses and you can easily see the vibe of the campus (I have only toured in the summer so I haven't been able to get an accurate feel of what the campus would be like for me as a student at times). I know I have a whole lists of schools that I want to see this fall and then in the spring so I thought I would share some helpful questions that I have learned to ask while on a campus visit!

How I Organize My Agenda

Monday, September 21, 2015

If you know me, you know I am obsessed with my agenda. I have been using the Lilly Pulitzer Large Agenda for three years now and love it! So helpful for keeping track of homework, meetings, test dates, social events, trips, etc. I did a similar post last spring but you know new year, new agenda so I thought it would be fun to give y'all an update on how I organize my agenda!

Here is the outside of my agenda! This year I have the Large Agenda in Pink Lemonade and I added a white monogram from a local boutique!

Another view of the exterior of my agenda! I use Ink Joy pens and love them! They come in so many colors and I bought a ton of them before the school year started at Staples!

The first pages of the agenda is a super cute description of what Resort 365 means and then a pocket with a picture of Palm Beach!

Here is the other side of the pocket and then the sticker page! I love the color the stickers add to the pages and I have also have a ton of academic stickers (currently unavailable, check eBay or your local Black Lion- that's where I got mine!)from last year!

Another bright and cheery, Palm Beach-themed page! I love how happy the agendas look, which is so helpful since I usually use my agenda for school so a bit of happy is needed!

A new addition to the Lilly agenda this book is the address book. I have found it super helpful for keeping track of addresses (I am showing a blank page for privacy reasons!) and emails!

Another new page this year is the travel pages. There is four of these and they have space for your itinerary, activities & excursions, and packing lists! I haven't used any of these pages yet but I am sure I will use them for spring break and summer vacations next year!

Each month has a page featuring the print of the month and a cute quote! I love this month's "I'd rather be at the beach" because it is so true!

Here is the monthly view! The biggest change from how I organize my agenda this year vs. last year is I'm color coding! I have a different color pen for each class then for social activities and then for everything else!

A closer look of the monthly page! I use the to do list for long term projects and then I keep the code to my color coding on a Lilly post-it note that I got as part of a Gift with Purchase on National Wear Your Lilly Day when I visited the Kiawah store (read about that here!)

Here is the view of the weekly pages, I only use pink and black pens here to keep it simple and I just record all of my homework and then non-academic activities are recorded in pink!

A more close up view of the weekly pages. I keep it pretty simple on these pages by writing all social events, meetings, appointments, days off, trips, and basically all non-homework and test related stuff in pink. I also write down all of my homework by using a line for each class!

My Chic Week September 11-17

Friday, September 18, 2015

Gosh what a busy week! This week was a short one for me since I don't have school today but it still felt super long. Like I felt like it was Thursday on Monday long! I'm super happy it's the weekend even though I don't have any major plans!

Last Friday was quite a busy day for me. I left a little bit earlier than usual so I could stop at Starbucks on my way to school and have my first PSL of the season! I had a few different quizzes that day so the extra caffeine was much needed! I babysat after school and then I had an essay due that night, so I didn't do anything too exciting!

Saturday morning, my mom and I headed to the J. Crew Warehouse Sale which was so much fun! We both got some amazing pieces and I will definitely go to more warehouse sales in the future! Be on the lookout for a post next week all about the sale and my experience! After shopping, we stopped at Trader Joe's on the way home. I ate lunch at home and then went to the gym (which was much needed). I spent the rest of the afternoon doing homework and some blogging!

My J. Crew Warehouse Sale haul!

Sunday morning, my family and I got up early to go to Mass and then I came home to do homework all afternoon!

Monday was a full day of classes and then after school, I had my first Faith Formation class of the year, which was super exciting! After Faith Formation, I ate dinner and then worked on some homework!

On Tuesday, I had a test in one of my classes (I'm pretty much expecting a quiz/test/essay due every day for the rest of the year) but the rest of the day was pretty relaxed. After school, I ran some errands before starting my homework.

On Wednesday's and Thursday's, I have block day which means I have 4 class for an hour and a half rather than 8 45 minute classes. I had a quiz in my first block and then a meeting during lunch but other than that my day wasn't overly busy! I did homework all afternoon as it has been pretty busy for me homework wise this week since I have a lot and I'm also trying to get ahead on it!

Thursday was another busy yet kind of fun day. In APUSH, we did colonial dancing, which was interesting (and funny!) and better than a long lecture all period. I know that is slightly random (and weird?). That afternoon, I babysat after school and then caught up on some homework and blogging afterwards!

On my Radar:

1. I'm getting my wisdom teeth out today so wish me luck! And please ignore, any oddball social media posts (worried from all of those wisdom teeth videos, where the kid is super loopy from the laughing gas!), I'm going to try to stay away from my phone/laptop but I'm sorry in advance on that one!

2. The Kate Spade presentation at New York Fashion Week last Friday was so gorgeous! I love all of the flowers and the coral dress with the bow back is so gorgeous!

3. I have finally finished One Tree Hill on Netflix. It was one of summer goals and all but whenever I finish something on Netflix, I get slightly upset because you know emotionally invested in OTH and all. Anyways, I've been pinning all of my favorite scenes on my new Pinterest board "There is only 1 Tree Hill", be sure to follow (or if you don't like OTH and just want to follow me, follow me here!). Also, I'm looking for a new show to watch! Leave any suggestions below in the comments!

4. Loved this peek into Cara's Instagram in this blog post!

5. Love this dress from Draper James (Reese Witherspoon's clothing line). You know what makes it even better? It's on sale!
