My Chic Week: January 22- 28

Friday, January 29, 2016

Thank goodness it's Friday y'all! Is it just me or short weeks seemingly so much longer. After a bit of winter weather last week (no school last Friday or Monday!), the week was a bit harder to get adjusted to (that's what happens after 4 days of no alarms in the morning!) and definitely required a lot of coffee! Funnily enough it's supposed to be 60 degrees this weekend, which I could not be more excited about (#howlongtillspring).

I had both Friday and Monday off as snow days so it was nice to have a few, unexpected days off to relax and get all of my homework done! One of my favorite ways to spend the mornings off was to curl up in bed with a cup of coffee and get some things done!

North Carolina got a bit of snow but I opted to stay indoors as it was quite icy and honestly miserable out! But here is some proof that it snowed (at least a little bit!).

Friday night after dinner, my family and I went over to my next-door neighbor's to hang out (and to see their puppies who are so big now!).

Saturday and Sunday were both pretty relaxed although we did head out of the house to grab lunch on Saturday! Monday was more of the same as I worked on homework, baked brownies, and relaxed at home!

As long as this week was, it somehow flew by (well isn't that an oxymoron?). I had a lot of quizzes and schoolwork that we were catching up in classes due to our unexpected days off, which made the week go by fast! Like one second it's Monday night and then bam, it's Thursday. Definitely not a bad thing but definitely crazy! I feel like I have said this every week lately, but one of my new year's goals is to post more consistently on social media, which I have failed at again! I really (and I mean it!) am going to try posting more (be sure to follow me: Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest!) in the next week!

On my radar this week:

1. Love how Cara styled a Lilly dress for winter in this post!

2. As mentioned earlier in this post, I had last Friday off for a snow day! I spent the day to catch up on a bit of organizing and cleaned my makeup brushes (which I really need to do more often because they just get gross). I used this DIY for my brushes and this DIY for my Beauty Blender and now my brushes are so clean. For more beauty related DIYs, be sure to check out my Beauty Pinterest board!

3. Mackenzie's blog is just the cutest and I love all of her makeup and beauty product posts (slightly ironic as I tend to go very simple in what makeup products I use). She just posted her current makeup routine and I think I need to buy a few new products ;)

4. After remembering reading about this book on Dorothy's blog last year, I ordered this book and it is so cute! I have been using it as a little decorative accent in my room and it adds such a fun touch!

5. I found this article on what your acne is really saying so interesting

Be sure to check out my posts from this past week!

Hope y'all all have a great weekend!

Cute Winter Wear

Thursday, January 28, 2016

Charlotte experienced some major (well major for North Carolina) last week and after experiencing that, I am so ready for spring and warmer temperatures. Unfortunately, spring is a bit of a ways away so until then you will be sure to find me wearing comfy and warm clothing!

Cute (and warm) clothes definitely make the freezing cold temperatures of January and February a bit more bearable so I have gathered of my favorite winter pieces that will keep you warm and looking cute until spring actually arrives!

What are your favorite clothes for winter? Let me know in the comments!

The BEST Brownies

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Over the weekend, I was determined to make a recipe for Salted Caramel Brownies that I found on Pinterest (follow me here). Unfortunately, they turned out quite disastrously so I decided to make my favorite brownie recipe that is from a Southern Living Cookbook.

Tips for Taking On the Second Semester

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

The first semester has come and gone and now we're jumping into the second semester, the home stretch of the school year (is it too soon to be looking forward to summer?). Third quarter is always a tough one as it's cold and you're smack in the middle of the class. So to help y'all take on the rest of the year, I have gathered my tried and true tips!

Use your Agenda!
Remember that super cute agenda you bought at the beginning of the school year? Well it's time to break it back out and use it! My agenda is my lifesaver (not joking) and I would probably be 100 times more stressed without it! Be sure to check out how I organize my agenda here.

Clean out your binders!
Get rid of the notes from last semester's classes that ended (I would recommend keeping the notes for the class that are all year round for your final exam!) and hole punch all of those loose papers. Let's get it all clean and organized for the new semester!

Drink lots of water
Stay hydrated y'all! Bring a cute water bottle to school and drink as much water as possible!

Ask for help
Struggling in a class? Go into school 5 minutes early or during your free period and ask your teacher for help. I have done this numerous times for a few of my classes and it has definitely helped.

Have time for fun!
If you're anything like me, you're bound to get stressed. However, don't let this completely take over your life. Go have lunch with friends, do something fun on the weekends! When you look back at your various years of high school, you wouldn't remember the stresses over classes but the fun times with friends (trust me, I vaguely remember the stresses from previous years of high school)!

Date Everything
That random piece of paper from Biology? Put the date on it. Yesterday's test? Put the date on it. I just started doing this and it makes it so much easier to organize your binder later on.

Have a little “me time” every day
I've found that this is the key to staying sane despite crazy amounts of homework. Spend anywhere from 5 minutes to a hour doing whatever makes you happy: doing a face mask, painting your nails, watching the Bachelor, reading, blogging, pinning everything on Pinterest!

Aim for 8 hours of sleep. Every night!
Being stressed isn't fun. But being stressed and cranky from a lack of sleep is even worse. Set a bedtime for yourself and get to bed as early as possible!

Read a book that’s not for school
Something I really need to work on this semester! I'm currently taking AP Lit and the reading load for that class is pretty large so I haven't really read anything else this past semester. I'm hoping to find more time to read this upcoming semester.

Find an organization system that works for you!
Binders don't work for you? Use something else! Just because so and so organizes a particular way doesn't mean you have to as well! Try a few different ways and then use what works best!

Workout
Another thing I need to work on. I was awful (and I mean like I didn't workout for 3 months awful) about working out this past semester. Working out is an amazing stress reliever so I am definitely going to be improving the amount of workouts I do this semester!

What are your tips for the second semester? Let me know in the comments!

Battle of the Carolinas {Collab with Isabel and Sophie of Normally in Navy}

Monday, January 25, 2016

Like most people, I love my state. I was born in Maryland and lived in New Jersey for two years when I was little, but I consider myself to be from North Carolina as I have lived here for most of my life (over 12 years!).

When I was emailing Isabel and Sophie of Normally in Navy, they suggested that we share what we love about our states (they both live in South Carolina!). I loved the idea so I will be sharing my favorite things about North Carolina and be sure to visit their blog to see their favorite things about South Carolina!

The Barbecue (image via)
Oh gosh, the pork butt. My family jokes you can tell I was born in the South (my siblings were born in New Jersey) because I love, love, love barbecue. I actually just ate it 20 minutes before writing this post. North Carolina is serious about their barbecue and for a good reason! It's so good!

Proximity to the beach and the mountains
Yes, North Carolina is a coastal state but it is just as easy to get to the mountains as it is to get to the beach so you get the best of the both worlds.

Krispy Kreme (image via)
Did y'all know Krispy Kreme was invented here in North Carolina? Despite not loving it as a child, I have now realized how great it truly is! If you're not from NC, be sure to test it out if you're ever here, you wouldn't regret it!

The Outer Banks
I grew up going to the Outer Banks in the summer and the beaches are so so gorgeous!

The Sports
I'll be the first to so that I am definitely not the most sports-addicted but North Carolina has a lot to offer. From the Duke/UNC rivalry, to the Panthers (whose home field is in Charlotte), to the Hornets, to the Knights baseball team, North Carolina has so many teams to cheer for!

The Mountains (image via)
They definitely don't compare to mountains around the country but for Carolinians who hate the cold, the mountains are perfect for skiing and seeing a bit of snow! Plus in the summer months, there is gorgeous views and hiking!

Charlotte (image via)
I live in Charlotte so I'm a bit biased but it's such a great city! There is so much to do from shopping, eating, visiting the White Water Rafting Center (which I have yet to visit), concerts, the list goes on and on!

The Lakes
Fun fact I just learned: North Carolina has 1,500 lakes that are bigger than 10 acres. Perfect for cooling off during the hot summer months!

One Tree Hill
OTH was set and filmed in North Carolina. If you visit Wilmington (where it was filmed), you can actually visit a few locations from the show! I loved OTH regardless, but having it be in North Carolina made it twenty times better for me!

Which Carolina is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

My Chic Week: January 15- 21

Friday, January 22, 2016

Happy Friday y'all! I currently have the day off because it's a snow day, which definitely makes my weekend better ;). If you're in the Southeast (especially the Carolinas and Virginia), you probably have the day off too so let's grab a cup of coffee (possibly with holiday creamer if you're like me, #sorrynotsorry) and catch up!

Last Friday was a half day of school so after class wrapped at 12:30, I went out to lunch with my mom and  siblings at Panera. I had an assignment due that night so I did that in the afternoon. After finishing up my assignment, I ran a few errands in the pouring rain (not fun!). By the time I got home, it was practically time for dinner and I spent the rest of the night hanging out with my family!

Saturday morning, my mom and I drove to go visit Clemson University in South Carolina! Our tour was later in the afternoon but we had to leave a bit early since it's farther away than other schools that I have looked out so far! Of course a Starbucks stop for breakfast was essential!

Once we arrived on campus, I was pretty surprised on how gorgeous Clemson's campus is! We had great weather and I had such a great time wandering through campus! My absolute favorite building was directly in the center of campus and houses the education department (not sure if I have mentioned this but I want to study elementary education in college!) so I would definitely not mind taking classes there if I wind up going to Clemson!

After our tour wrapped up, my mom and I grabbed lunch at a burger place in downtown Clemson before heading back home. We did make a quick stop at the outlets in Gaffney where I bought a Ralph Lauren oxford and then another frame for the gallery wall in my room! Once we made it back home, I was exhausted so an early bedtimes was necessary!

Sunday morning, I woke up bright and early to go to Mass with my family. Afterwards, we picked up breakfast at Panera (I enjoyed my favorite- a cinnamon crunch bagel!). I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon relaxing, blogging, and doing a tiny bit of homework in bed!

Sunday night, I went over to one of friend's house before we all went out to dinner. One of my friends had been studying abroad here for the semester and she headed back home this week! We all had dinner together Sunday night, which was such a fun going away party for her!

The chocolate cake I had for dessert, it was so good!

I had Monday off of school so I slept in and spent the morning relaxing, catching up on the Bachelor, and organizing. After lunch, my mom and I ran a few errands and then I spent the rest of the afternoon blogging and writing thank you notes for Christmas!

Jumping back into the school week wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms come Tuesday morning but it was sweetened a bit since it was only a three day week (I have today off as a snow day!)! I haven't had too much homework this past week (thank goodness!) but I have still been pretty busy with meetings, volunteering at Church, SAT tutoring, and adjusting to my new second semester schedule!

What's on my radar this week:

1. An unexpected three day weekend! Charlotte was hit with a snowstorm last night so I am thrilled to have the day off today! So nice to relax at home, get some organizing done, and get ahead on schoolwork!

2. This coverup is way too gorgeous! Just begging you to order and head to the nearest (warm) beach, ASAP!

3. I love these tips from Dorothy on how to start your semester on a good note!

4. Week two of the new season of PLL... I'm still a bit iffy on continuing watching. I definitely feel it has dragged on a bit but I want to see the final conclusion of the entire show. Let me know if y'all are watching it and what your thoughts are about this season!

5. Love this outfit from Kate!

Be sure to check out my posts from this week!

What have y'all been up to this week? What is on your radar? Let me know in the comments!

Lilly Pulitzer Spring Favorites (so far!)

Thursday, January 21, 2016

I don't know about y'all but winter is definitely not my favorite season. After Christmas and a snow day or two, I'm ready for the return of spring days. Christmas has come and gone and North Carolina has yet to see a big snow this season (it did snow a little bit last weekend but it did't stick) so I'm starting to get ready for spring (and spring-like temperatures!). Luckily, Lilly Pulitzer agrees me and just released some new pieces that are perfect to wear now as well as when it finally warms up again!

What are your favorites from the Lilly spring line (so far)? Let me know in the comments!

Q & A

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

Last weekend on my Instagram and Twitter (be sure to follow me!), I asked y'all to comment with some questions for me to answer! I love finding out bits and tidbits about other bloggers's lives so I thought this would be the perfect way for y'all to get to know me a bit better (be sure to check out this post and this post as well!). I am so excited to share the answers with y'all today so let's get started!

What are your go to winter staples?
My winter staples are definitely jeans, riding boots, a vest, and a cashmere Lilly Pulitzer scarf! I just bought a Lilly cashmere cardigan and a Ralph Lauren button up, which I know I'll be wearing for the rest of the winter!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a first or second grade teacher!

What are your favorite TV shows?
I love watching Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill and Netflix while the Bachelor, Pretty Little Liars, and Say Yes to the Dress are my favorite guilty pleasure TV shows!

What colleges are you interested in?
So, if y'all are older readers, you know that I'm a junior in high school so I'm really starting to get in the middle of the college process. I'm not going to tell y'all my exact thoughts on each college I'm looking into as I'm a bit of scared of jinxing myself, I'm planning on sharing everything once I decide on a school. I want to stay in the South and have been looking largely at North Carolina, South Carolina, a little bit of Georgia, a little bit in Alabama, and some Virginia schools! I've toured 15 colleges so far but most of that were with my school and I definitely did not love all of them! I'm planning on touring the ones I did love very soon and I'm looking forward to sharing that with y'all! I've shared my tours of Auburn, Furman, Elon, and on Friday, I'll be sharing about my Clemson tour!

What do you do when you find yourself in a creative block?
I try to keep a list of blog posts ideas running at all times (comment for any you would love to see or email me at chicincarolina@gmail.com with post requests) so I can work off of that! I love Pinterest (follow me here!) and reading other blogs for blog post inspiration!
Top places you want to travel to?
Paris, London, Hawaii, Palm Beach, New York City, Bora Bora!

What does your average weekday look like?
I'm a high school junior so my weekday consists of waking up early, getting ready for the day, school, and a few days out of the week I will have a meeting during lunch. After school, my afternoon may consist of homework, babysitting, SAT tutoring, teaching a religious education class at my Church, or just (re)watching Gossip Girl on Netflix! Here is a Day in My Life post from September, it's changed a little bit but overall it's pretty updated!

Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a golden retriever!

What is on your wishlist?
Pretty much everything in the Lilly Pulitzer spring line! I also love these Jack Rogers and this striped shirt! On my dream wishlist (aka the items I will not be purchasing anytime soon) are this jacket and this bag!

Why did you start blogging?
I have always followed a bunch of bloggers on social media and then during the summer before my sophomore year of high school, I started binge-reading a few during rainy afternoons! I loved the idea of blogging and went back and forth on whether I should start my own until March of last year!

What was your favorite stuffed animal as a kid?
Boo from Monsters Inc.!

What was your favorite field trip?
Probably my eighth grade week long trip to Washington D.C.!

What is your favorite quote?
"Destiny is for losers. It's just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen" -Blair Waldorf

What is your favorite blog post that you've ever written?
This is a toughie! This is probably my favorite lifestyle post and this is my favorite outfit post so far!

What are your top three Lilly items?
If y'all haven't noticed yet, I am a huge fan of the brand Lilly Pulitzer and I can't help the fact that my closet is probably 75% Lilly! My all-time favorite pieces are probably the Elsa top in Southern Charm (styled here), the Michelina Skort in Red Right Return (styled here), and the Rosie Shift Dress in Seeing Pink Elephants (styled here).

What color do you wear the most?
Pink!

What are your favorite children's books?
Any Dr. Seuss books are always good, or Eloise and Madeline! When I was a bit older, I loved Junie B. Jones!

What are your favorite and least favorite parts about blogging?
My favorite aspects about blogging are writing blog posts for y'all, the sweet comments y'all leave on my posts, and connecting with other bloggers! My least favorite aspects of blogging are the pressure to become a "famous" blogger and then comparing myself to other bloggers (I love this post from Cathleen which talks about this!). Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives by a landslide and I'm so excited to publish content for y'all for many years to come!

How do you save money while shopping?
Okay so I think I may do a whole separate post on this but waiting for things to go on sale and just saving up to splurge on my must have pieces!

What is your favorite old Disney channel show?
Hannah Montana was the first show I was allowed to watch on Disney so I'll go with that. I know this is a movie, but I was really obsessed with High School Musical back in the day!

What are you best tips for balancing blogging and school?
Pre-plan, pre-plan, pre-plan! I always try to schedule all of my posts for the upcoming week during the weekend so that way I can focus on being active on social media and schoolwork during the week!

How do you manage school and your blog?
Similar to the question above, but lots of pre-scheduling posts and time management! I like to have posts up every week day so I schedule a week's worth of posts so I don't have to worry about it during the week!

What is your most worn pair of shoes?
During the school year, definitely my Tory Burch flats (I have a pair in black and in tan). During the summer, my Jack Rogers!

If you could have any animal as a pet what would it be?
Definitely a dolphin!

Do you subscribe to any magazines?
I do not, but I love borrowing my neighbor's People magazines (she has a subscription) and reading Town & Country online!

A big thank you for everyone who left a question for me to answer! If you think of any additional questions, feel free to email me at chicincarolina@gmail.com!

First Semester of Junior Year Reflection

Monday, January 18, 2016

Hope y'all are enjoying your Martin Luther King Day off! This weekend for me marks the end of my first semester of my junior year of high school so to close that semester up I wanted to do a reflection of it today on the blog! Take note that this is more of a personal post (though it may be helpful for high school freshmen and sophomores!) so if you're interested in the more fashion posts that I do, be sure to check back in tomorrow at 8 AM ;).

So jumping right in, I would definitely say this semester brought a lot of change with it! My class schedule increased in level quite a bit as I took on my first two AP classes and honors classes in two subjects that have always been harder for me. Last spring, as my friends and I all turned 16, we all marked 16 as the year of change. We envisioned ourselves a year into the future skinnier, tanner, better grades, with boyfriends, with jobs, cute new outfits, etc. Little did I know that the change would come in ways not imagined. The first day back I remember coming home and just being so overwhelmed on how different everything seemed. From classes to friends to just the atmosphere of my school, it all just seemed different and honestly, it completely freaked me out. I completely questioned myself: "What I am doing taking Honors Pre Calc", "Why did I decide to take two AP's", "Why can't things go back to the way they were just two months ago?". The amount of work junior year is definitely not a joke and I would be lying if I told y'all that there have not been nights and weekends where I have wondered how I can possibly get everything done in time (and occasionally tears to go along with it).

If you compare high school to a marathon, freshmen year is the warm up, sophomore year is finding your rhythm and feeling comfortable, while junior year is when you have to start pushing yourself to reach your goal. Not to say that freshmen and sophomore year don't matter (they do!) but junior year is definitely when you start to see graduation and college admissions right around the corner and you realize how much work you need to put in to get there.

Something that has been hard for me this semester is the comparison trap game. It's so easy to compare yourselves with your classmates, friends, or even some random girl you follow on Instagram. You begin to question if you're the only one writing an essay two hours before it's due, how your SAT scores stack up to your friends, who is touring what college, who will take on a particular leadership position, or pondering how other people have time to have the "perfect life" displayed on their Instagram of parties, brunches, sleepovers, etc. Even as I write this, I find myself comparing what is going on in my life to others. It so easy to get caught up and think that you're stupid and you're the only person who is taking a particular class that understands nothing. Well, guess what? Everyone else is just as stressed out as you are. Nobody posts a picture of them late at night sitting and doing homework or crying and freaking out because they understand "nothing" in that one class (we all know the one). I definitely do not go around telling everyone how I'm about to lose it because I'm stressed or whatever. Sometimes, (take it from me) all you need is a vent seesh with a friend (they're probably feeling the same way) or your mom (mine has been such a lifesaver this semester and I honestly would not have know what to do without being able to just vent on everything going on). At the end of the day, focus on you! Your friend may have gotten an A+ on that exam and you just got a C but don't compare yourself to her. If you studied as hard as you could, try talking to your teacher to see what you can do to improve. And if you don't get 100s (or even an A) on every test and quiz in that class but you work as hard as you can, honestly that's all you can do! Put your best effort into everything you do and honestly everything will work out okay!

Another thing that I have struggled a bit with this past semester, perfection. I am definitely a perfectionist and have a Type-A personality. I want my grades to be as high as possible, to spent weekends having amazing fun time with friends, get into that perfect college that is hard to get into, perfect skin, to weigh the perfect weight and to fit into that ideal dress size. And when those things don't happen, I view it as a disappointment. Grades for example. I mentioned Pre Calc earlier on in but I have never been a amazing math student. I do well but not extraordinary. This year, I opted to challenge myself and take honors, which has definitely been a challenge. I've received grades that I'm not proud of and spend possibly way too much time studying just to receive that grade. I haven't been realistic with myself honestly. Will I be getting an A this semester? No. Does that mean I haven't been working as hard as I can? No.

This semester, I have also realized that I try to make things appear as perfect as possible to others. Actually right before exams, I mentioned how stressed out I was about exams and a few classmates in my Spanish class told me that I don't get stressed. I go to cute little cafes with my organized notes and study in the most stress-free manner possible. While I was extremely flattered, I want y'all to know this couldn't be farther from the truth. No matter what that Instagram of my agenda looking perfect may lead you to believe, I don't have it all together all the time. I get stressed. I freak out over the trivial things. I don't go to cute cafes and get it all done. Most of the time, I'm doing homework in my room in comfy clothes with no makeup and my hair up freaking out about getting it all done. If you're in the same boat as the last sentence, don't worry! I have yet to meet someone who studies all the time in cute cafes and doesn't worry about anything (if you have, let me know! I would love to learn their secrets!).

A bit more on friendship that I've learned this past semester. If you can, go to lunch! Aka if you don't have a meeting or desperately need to meet with a teacher, go to lunch and eat with your friends! I can't tell y'all how many times that a lunch full of laughter is just what you need to push through the rest of your day! Make an effort with your friends too (something I need to work on a bit). I tend to get "in the zone" while working on homework (not necessarily a bad thing...) but I need to work on taking a bit of a break and texting friends. Plus it definitely adds a bit of sunshine to that afternoon of homework!

And for when friendships are a bit rough... it happens, you don't get invited to go something and you see the picture on Instagram while sitting on the couch alone in your pajamas. It hurts. But is the end of the world? No. It's happened to everyone and honestly you never fully know the story behind that one perfect picture. I remember my freshmen year not being invited to a party at a girl who was a friend at the time and being so hurt when seeing pictures all over Instagram. But it turned out that the pictures did not show everything and the "super fun" party was just a group of people awkwardly hanging out and making it seem so fun just for their Instagrams. It still definitely hurts but trust me in saying that in a year, month, or week from now you will have forgotten about it or moved on! You definitely do not have to have a "oh my gosh, we're besties" relationship with everyone you know but definitely be nice to everyone! Smile. Give little compliments that make other people's days.

I want to end this on a positive note, as junior is definitely a roller coaster featuring downs as well as many ups. Junior year has taught me so many things. How to challenge myself. How to step into situations where things are different that I'm used to. How to be a leader. How to manage my time. Some great things have come out of it, fun times with friends, college visits, taking on more leadership roles that I didn't expect, those good grades on projects and essays I have put a ton of effort into. Junior year has definitely pushed me (and is still pushing me) but I'm glad to say that (so far) it has challenged me to improve!

I hope for any of my fellow-juniors this helps you feel like you're not the only one you feels confused in that particular class or everything seems to be crashing apart! And also for my freshmen and sophomores, I hope this gives y'all a bit more of a realistic view of junior year (don't be scared, you can do it!).

Are you a junior? What have you learned from your first semester? Let me know in the comments!

My Chic Week January 8-14

Friday, January 15, 2016

Is it just me or are shorter weeks always so much longer? I have early dismissal today (thank goodness) but it definitely has made this week drag on forever! Luckily, I have a long weekend to make up for that! I have some super fun plans that I will be sharing next week (can't wait? follow me on Instagram and Twitter!) but for now let's catch up!

Friday was a short day of class as we had a speaker come in to wrap up Bridge Week but it seemed especially long for some reason! I joked all day to my friends that all I wanted to do when I got home was to take a nap and fortunately I was able to do that! I spend the rest of the night just hanging out at home, which was nice after my first week back at school!

One of my favorite things about the weekend is catching up on sleep so I loved that I was able to do that on Saturday morning. I spent the rest of the morning relaxing and then attempting to tackle some of my homework (key word here: attempting). After lunch, my sister, mom, and I ran a few errands in the afternoon (including doing a bit of planning for some things for my room, which you can see the inspiration for here!) before going to Church. We had some family friends over for dinner that night and to watch the Steelers game (fun fact: my family are big Steelers fans!). Fortunately the night ended on a good note as the Steelers won!

Unfortunately since I pretty much avoided my homework all day on Saturday, I had to catch up on that on Sunday. I wish I had more to share but I was pretty much sitting in bed working on APUSH ID's all day!

These past few days have been a whirlwind of meetings, homework, quizzes, SAT tutoring, and College Essay writing! It definitely feels a bit weird to have so much to do after coming off of Christmas Break but I am definitely starting to settle into my schedule for the semester! I also received some very exciting news that I can't wait to share with y'all soon!

In some more fun-ish updates, I have gotten quite a few packages this week that I am so excited about! My Lilly order finally came in (check out this post to see what I got!) and I'm so excited to style my new pieces for upcoming outfit posts for y'all! I finally purchased a headboard for my room (it was out of stock for a good two months) and it ties my room together so well! Makes me so excited to share a room tour with y'all! Last but not least, I got the new kate spade book, all in good taste, which is simply the cutest filled with so many entertaining tips and tricks!

On my radar this week:

1. Lilly Pulitzer New Arrivals and there's a Gift with Purchase this weekend! My favorites are this dress and this top!

2. I love Brooke's post on how to make it seem like you have your life together!

3. I have been doing quite a bit of online browsing this week for cute throw pillows and odds and ends for my room re-design and while going through Serena and Lily's website, I found these super cute pajamas that are on sale but still a splurge! I thought they were too cute not to share!

4. Tips for taking time for yourself from Caroline

5. I found this video the other day and I can't stop watching it! Too funny!
