Trying to be Trendy with an Off-the-Shoulder Top

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Kailua-Kona, HI, USA
I am definitely not known for being trendy- my style has always been classic and preppy and I tend to shy away from the latest trends. Crop tops? Not for me. High waisted jean shorts? Definitely prefer my J. Crew chino shorts. But when Lilly Pulitzer released this gorgeous white lace off-the-shoulder top earlier this summer, I knew I had to have it.

It's the perfect blend of trendy and classic as the lace balances the trendiness of the off-the-shoulder. It fits perfectly into my preppy wardrobe and now the issue is that I want to wear it all the time! While in Hawaii, I paired it with a pair of Lilly Pulitzer Alina pants from the Spring Collection and a Kendra Scott necklace for dinner at Ruth Chris (read my recap of Days 1 & 2 of my trip here) and it was perfect (not to mention, the top is nice and flowy, which hides any food babies!).

On a bit of a side note, these pants are awesome! They're the fabric of a Palazzo pant but are in a straight leg, which makes them totally appropriate for any occasion not to mention they feel like pajamas. I wore them on the first day of my college trips this past spring with my school (see my outfits from that week here and my trip recap here) and they were perfect! I'm definitely planning on wearing them a ton once school starts as seniors can dress up at my school in lieu of wearing our uniforms. One bummer is that the pants aren't currently not available on the Lilly website but I did find them on Amazon in limited sizings and they should be in the Lilly After Party Sale in August!

One of my favorite parts about our hotel in Hawaii was the open foyer. It was a courtyard-esque setup with ponds and lots of tropical plants in the middle. Absolutely perfect for blog photo shoots!
