My Chic Week: July 7-13

Happy Monday y'all! I know that I typically share my "My Chic Week" posts on Fridays but we wound up leaving our lake house on Friday instead of Saturday and we ran out of wifi at our lake house so I was unable to get this post up in time for y'all. Last week was our second week up in Upstate New York (read about Week 1 of my family's trip here) and I have lots of pictures to share, so hopefully that makes up for this post going up later than usual!

On Friday, we headed into town to go to one of our favorite restaurants for lunch. My mom and I did a little shopping before lunch and also took pictures for an outfit post y'all will see on the blog soon!

After lunch, my siblings and I decided to grab some ice cream, which is always a must whenever we're on vacation! Unfortunately, the weather turned a bit sour in the afternoon so we weren't able to get out onto the lake like we had planned but we spent the afternoon playing board games, which was a lot of fun!

Our family friends came into town on Saturday so we went out on the lake in the afternoon. After a few hours of tubing and hanging out at the beach, we came back for a casual dinner at home. I made S'mores Cookie Bars for dessert, which are seriously one of my favorite recipes ever (the whole pan was pretty much gone after dinner...).

We were also treated to an amazing sunset that night!

Not the best picture ever but they're so good, I don't care haha

Sunday was another lake day filled with lots of tubing, paddle boarding, and beach time. Sunday was a pretty laid back day but after dinner, we made s'mores, which was so much fun even though it was super buggy out.

Monday was an exciting day as my friend Annaliese of Southern Belle in Training came to visit for a lake day. She recently moved from Charlotte to Vermont so it was a lot of fun to see her as the last time we saw each other was back in April for her going away dinner! She was able to visit for the majority of the day and it was so fun (and I have so many funny tubing pictures that she would probably kill me if they went on the Internet haha!).

After Annaliese left, we wound up going to one of our favorite restaurants in town for dinner. The restaurant has amazing food and the desserts are even better so it was a great way to end my Monday (not like Monday's are too bad on vacation though!).

You may of guessed it but Tuesday was another lake day (I mean what else do you do at the lake?). Another family friend arrived Monday night so Tuesday was our first lake day with her (she's a bit younger than my little sister!) and it was a lot of fun. Our family friends came over for dinner on Tuesday night, which everyone always love even if it means me making everyone watch the Bachelorette (that I had taped) with me.

Since our lake house is very remote and our wifi plan is a bit interesting (we actually ran out of wifi earlier in the week), my parents, brother, and I went to a local coffee shop in town on Wednesday morning to connect to wifi and catch up on emails and other things like that.

My mom and I had a few errands to run in the afternoon on Wednesday so we did those before coming back to the lake house to make some yummy chocolate chip cookies!

Thursday was our last day in New York and, unfortunately for us, it was another rainy day. We got all of our things packed up in the morning and finished in the afternoon, with a break after lunch to our favorite ice cream place.

Can you believe this is a small ice cream cone??

Thursday night, we had dinner over at our family friends's house and it was a lot of fun to hang out with them and eat some pizza too!

On my Radar:

1. Obsessed with this Clemson orange, Lauren James dress! I think I need to order it for game day at Clemson this fall

2. I always find myself doing more baking while up in New York and this year is no exception. Last week, I made these Sugar Cookie Bars and this week, I made S'mores Cookie Bars that I made a few years ago (so so yummy!). Be sure to follow along with me on Pinterest as that is where I get most of my recipes from!

3. The Lauren Conrad team shared this fun quiz on how L.A. is your beauty routine and it was so fun to take (even if your style isn't exactly "L.A." like mine is)

4. This Tory Burch tunic is gorgeous

5. Carly hit the nail on its head with her blog post about our reliance on our phones (I'm so guilty of this haha) and how to overcome it

Last Week on Chic in Carolina:

Happy Monday!

  3. Those s'mores bars are basically everything I can't eat in one snack, and I want them SO bad. The spotty wifi and cell service is one of my favorite and least favorite things about visiting the lake, all at the same time! Haha. I'm so jealous that you got to hang out with Annaliese for a bit!

I got very LA on that quiz, which is shocking to me! Haha
