Two Fall Favorites: Bean Boots & J. Crew Vests

Thursday, September 29, 2016

It's official (at least according to the calendar), it's fall! Even though I've been sipping on Pumpkin Spice Lattes for a few weeks now, I haven't brought out my fall wardrobe yet (thanks North Carolina) but I'm so excited for the change in seasons and to say goodbye to 90 degree days.

All of my favorite clothing stores have been bringing out some new goodies for fall and I'm so excited to purchase a few pieces in the next month (once I finish one of my 101 in 1001 goals to go a month without shopping on Saturday). I've been day dreaming about my bean boots and J. Crew vests all week and thought I would share a bit more inspiration if you're in the same boat as I am.

A Day in My Life: Fall 2016

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Happy Wednesday y'all! I'm super excited for today's post- another edition of A Day in My Life. I posted my junior year day in my life last fall and also shared my summer daily routine a few months back but figured now is a perfect time to share with y'all as I'm getting settled into my school schedule.

Senior year has been pretty busy with all of my classes along with college applications. It's definitely taken a bit of organization to keep it all together but it seems like I've been getting into a good routine lately, making it the perfect time to share it with y'all!

My days are definitely busy and jam packed looking back on my schedule but I would definitely say that's more than common for seniors in my school (maybe a senior thing in general? let me know haha).

What does y'all's daily routines look like? Let me know in the comments!

Navy & White & a Wood Watch (Plus a Giveaway!)

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Happy Tuesday y'all! I'm so excited to be sharing a new outfit post with y'all- senior year has been so busy and I haven't had a lot of time to shoot any for y'all. Thankfully, I was able to shoot this outfit last weekend with my little brother and I absolutely love how it turned out!

It's officially fall even though the temperatures here in North Carolina don't exactly show that. My school is always freezing so I've been able to get away with wearing some fall stuff although it's not exactly comfortable once you step outside.

I got this gorgeous dress from J. Crew on a recent shopping trip and have been so excited to wear it. I've been wanting a navy striped dress for years and this one did the trick. It is a heavier material so I'm excited to wear it with scarves and riding boots as it gets a bit cooler out. It does run pretty big though as I'm typically a 4 and I'm wearing a XS in this (and it's actually a bit big on me too).

I'm also so excited to share with y'all this fun Wood Watch that JORD was so kind to send to me. I typically wear my Kate Spade watch so this one is such a fun way to switch things up a bit!

JORD has also been so kind to offer a giveaway for all of y'all, which you can enter to win your very own JORD watch here!

Disclaimer: JORD provided me with a free watch in exchange for this post but as always, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

How are you styling fall pieces in the last days of "summer" temperatures? Let me know in the comments!

My Chic Week: September 16-22

Monday, September 26, 2016

Y'all, I was the worst blogger last week as I managed to not post any posts for y'all and I was pretty sporadic in my Instagram postings. I had a jam packed weekend, which I'll talk about in a minute, so I was unfortunately unable to preschedule my posts as I typically do. Then, last week was crazy hectic with quizzes and tests galore.

I decided that I would catch y'all up on what has been going on today in a My Chic Week post (which you may have guessed) but let's jump into it!

Friday was a crazy day for me: it was senior portraits, there was quizzes and assignments due as always, and I had a meeting during lunch. After school, I went to a Pure Barre class and then babysat for the remainder of the day!

On Saturday, my mom and I were up bright and early to head to High Point for the day to attend their Open House. I first visited High Point in July (which you can read about in this post) but it was so nice to be back and visit when the students are actually out and about. It was nice to tour again as my mom and I were able to see different aspects of campus and whatnot.

During my tour, we walked by who I was 99% sure was Mandy from Mandy J Engelman. I quickly DM'ed her in what I hoped would be the least creepy way possible and we actually we are able to quickly meet after the Open House activities ended. She is the absolute sweetest and my mom and I loved being able to hear more about her perspective on High Point and a little bit about Greek Life on campus (it turned out to be Greek Week while we were there so none of the students working the Open House were involved in Greek life).

After chatting with Mandy, my mom and I headed back home to Charlotte and actually wound up going over to our old neighbor's house for dinner, which was a lot of fun!

From my Instagram story

On Sunday, I was thankfully able to sleep in and catch up on some much needed sleep. I worked on some homework and some blog work for a little bit with a cup of coffee of course!

I also nannied on Sunday for the family that I work for, which was a lot of fun! They have a preschooler and a baby so on Sunday, I was hanging out with their sweet little baby all day, which I loved. We hung out at their house for a while and also took a nice long walk around Myers Park (aka the Booty Loop for my Charlotte gals).

Monday was a fairly typical day other than that one of my top colleges visited my high school for an information meeting. I'm honestly still in disbelief that I'm a senior at that it's time to apply to and eventually decide on a college! I still have two more visits to do and I can't wait to share them with y'all! I also had my Faith Formation class on Monday, which I always love!

On Tuesday, I left school a bit early and then drove into the city for a NHS awards ceremony for our major philanthropy.  Two of my classmates (including one of my closest friends) and our NHS advisor attended and it was a fun afternoon. After the ceremony ended, we went to Bakersfield, one of my favorite Charlotte resturarants for chips and queso as well as delicious tacos.

Bakersfield is across the street from such a cool mural wall. Mural walls are super trendy on Instagram and it was so fun to take pictures in front of it. We were also all joking that my outfit of a Lilly fit and flare and pearls totally matched the artsy aesthetic of the wall but whatever haha.

Wednesday started off on a very busy note as I had a big AP Psych test during my first block. Thankfully, that was the brunt of the hard part of the day. After school, I nannied as well.

Thursday was pretty calm too during the day but unfortunately, I had quite a bit of studying to do for Friday, which we'll talk about in Friday's My Chic Week post!

Hope y'all are having a great Monday so far and a good start to your week!

My Chic Week: September 9-15

Friday, September 16, 2016

HAPPY FRIDAY! I am so excited to finally have a My Chic Week post go up on a Friday (as usual) rather than at some point during the weekend like the past few weeks. I had some time last night to work on this post, which I was so excited about! This week was another whirlwind so unfortunately I don't have many pictures but this weekend is set to be pretty busy so I'll be sharing about that next week!

Friday was fairly typical as I had a few quizzes and assignments due. Fridays have been my busy day as of late for school since it seems I always have quizzes or tests or stuff due on Friday haha!

After school on Friday, I went to a Pure Barre class, which was an amazing way to kick off the weekend. I then ran home, changed, and ate dinner before heading back to school for a football game.  I arrived early to volunteer for NHS, which was great because I got a few service hours and I also got a really good parking spot haha!

The theme of the game was America so we all wore our red, white, and blue to cheer on our team. I didn't wind up getting any pictures but it was so fun to hang out with everyone in my grade! We wound up losing (quite miserably actually) but it was still fun to attend!

Saturday morning started off with a Pure Barre class and then running back home to get ready for a meeting. I had a meeting for Faith Formation at 11 at Panera, so I quickly changed into this super comfy Lou & Grey dress (that I purchased at Loft).

I absolutely love Panera's Cinnamon Crunch Bagel so I got that while I was there. Since I had quite a bit of homework to do, I decided to stay at Panera after my meeting ended to bang the majority of my homework out (and consumed one too many iced coffees in the process!).

On Sunday, I slept in and then went to Mass with my mom and sister. Since it's been so warm in Charlotte this week, I was able to wear one of the dresses I got in the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale. After Mass, my mom and I went out to lunch at one of my favorite barbecue restaurants in town, which was so so yummy!

Since I finished all of my homework on Saturday, I had the entire afternoon free, which was so nice since I haven't had a lot of free time with school starting back up lately. My mom and I went to Trader Joe's and I was so surprised to see that they already had pumpkins in store (although they didn't have any pumpkin flavored products, which was a bummer). After Trader Joe's, I blogged and then had a delicious steak dinner at home with my family to round out the weekend.

Monday was a pretty exciting day as I had both the first meeting for the Service Committee than I'm the Vice President of as well as my first Faith Formation class of the year. I am so excited for another year of Faith Formation and can't believe this is my third year teaching (and last since I'll be at college next year!).

Tuesday was pretty normal as I went to school and nannied in the afternoon- nothing to exciting!

I was up (super) bright and early Wednesday morning for a 6 AM Pure Barre class. Attending the 6 AM definitely puts me in a bit of rush to get to school on time but is so worth it as I'm able to squeeze a workout in since I typically can't fit classes into my schedule after school.

The school day itself was fairly normal but we did do the Candy Neurons project in my AP Psych group, which was a lot of fun! Even though Psych is my first class of the day, we ate so much candy it was slightly insane, which is a good way to start off the school day!

After school, I nannied and the little boy I nanny and I decided to stop for King of Pops on the way to his house. They always have a little stand outside and I've never stopped before but my popsicle was delicious! I tried the Arnold Palmer, which was so yummy (especially since it's still in 90s here)! I will definitely be stopping for popsicles more often (well until it gets cold out haha).

Thursday was pretty calm, which is definitely welcomed! I thankfully didn't have too much homework, which I will never complain about haha!

On my Radar this week:

1. I found this Town & Country article hilarious

2. Obsessed with this outfit from Annaliese (I mean the background is gorgeous)

3. This espresso sticky buns recipe looks perfect for a weekend brunch

4. I need this Kate Spade top

5. This outfit from Mackenzie is so cute

6. Did y'all hear that Lilly Pulitzer is making wallpaper and fabric now? Obsessed

7. I love how Dorothy styled this dress

8. I relate to this Buzzfeed article a little too much...

9. As a senior, I love Caroline's tips for applying to college

Happy Friday and hope y'all have a great weekend!

5 Shoes Every Preppy Girl Should Own

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Y'all probably know by now that I am a major believer in quality over quantity. I definitely think you should invest in the classics as you'll be able to wear them for years to come! I've put together my list of five shoes every preppy girl should invest in at some point as they're such classics in any wardrobe!

Nike Sneakers- For working out (duh) as well as those days when all you want to wear is a oversized tee and norts!

Rain Boots- For those rainy days, every girl should have a pair of rain boots (or other waterproof shoes like duck boots) to save the cute shoes from being ruined from the rain! Not to mention, they can be super cute!

Nice Flats- I am not a huge heels girl (although I'm attempting to change that) but I am a huge believer in the wonder that is ballet flats. They are a classic staple in any girl's closet than can be worn season after season!

Riding Boots- My go-to in the fall and winter months! I wear mine probably 90% of the time in the colder weather months as they suit any outfit from jeans and tops to skirts to dresses!

Jack Rogers- For when it's a bit warmer out, I'm usually in my Jack Rogers! They are a bit dressier than your typical flip flop and pair well with any summery outfit.

What are your must have shoes? Let me know in the comments!

Lately... (Part 2)

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

I did a similar post a few months back (which you can read here) but I decided that today would be a great time to catch y'all up on some random ins and outs of my life. I love sharing fashion posts with y'all but I also love to share more about me so y'all can get to know me better (namely because I am nosy and love reading this style post on other blogs)!

Eating... lots of Granola bars! I am such a granola bar addict (my favorite is the Nature Valley Oat & Honey ones) as they are so easy to throw into my schoolbag or purse during a busy day!

Drinking... Pumpkin Spice Lattes! Even though it's no where near fall temperatures here in Charlotte a girl can dream and PSLs definitely help out with that.

Listening... to "Closer" like everyone else haha! I have also been loving the Great Gatsby soundtrack lately

Wearing... my new gold Jack Rogers. My trusty white pair that I've had since freshman year during my trip to New York in July and I've been wearing my new gold ones a ton lately!

Loving... Pure Barre classes. I started taking classes in June (which you can read about in this post) but I've been loving squeezing classes into my now much more busy schedule. I love that Pure Barre classes are such a stress reliever and give me some me time everyday in addition to being an amazing workout!

Reading... my AP Psych textbook and Pride & Prejudice for AP Lang. After hearing so many good things about it on other blogs, I just order You are a Bada** but would love to hear y'all's suggestions on which books to read next!

Watching... honestly not a lot! I have had so much homework after school lately, which hasn't given me a ton of free time. But I did catch up on Pretty Little Liars last week (which I love to hate) and cannot believe how the episode ended!

Needing... to work on college applications! I've already completed 2 of my 7 applications but have a lot of supplemental essays to write in the next few months (I'll be done with applications before Christmas Break!)

Excited... for college visits! I have an open house this weekend, an overnight visit at one of my favorite schools in two weeks, need to schedule my last college tour, and will hopefully be going to a football game at one of my top choices!

Hoping... to set a better sleep schedule- senior year has definitely hit hard and I've been staying up later than usual and waking up earlier too, resulting in a lot less sleep and requiring a lot more coffee! My goal is to be done with homework (or hopefully be in bed) by 10 PM every night.

What has been on your "Lately list recently? Let me know in the comments!

Beauty Wishlist

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

I am definitely not the biggest beauty guru- my daily makeup routine takes less than 10 minutes and I've honestly never even attempted to contour my face. When I made my 101 in 1001 list back in January, one of my goals for myself was to try 10 new beauty products. It has been so much fun trying new products out so far and I love to look through Sephora's website and browse through all the different products available! I thought it would be fun to share with y'all some of the products that have caught my eye lately as there's definitely a lot!

What beauty items have you been wanting lately? Let me know in the comments!

What I Wore: Business Casual Outfits for School

Monday, September 12, 2016

I am so excited to share today's post with y'all! As most of y'all, I am high school senior, which is exciting for a plethora of reasons but I also get to ditch the uniform this year as well! I've been wearing an uniform since the third grade and it's a senior perk at my school that you can wear business casual outfits in lieu of your uniform.

It's been so fun pulling together outfits for school and I've been trying to take pictures of what I wore everyday to share with y'all! I am missing a few days because those mornings were so busy (6 AM barre classes do that) but I would say this is a good representation of what you can find me wearing on a day to day basis! I also post OOTD's on my Instagram Stories so be sure to follow me to see those!
