Gameday Ready

Thursday, August 31, 2017

Clemson's first home football game is this Saturday and I'm so excited to experience my first college gameday. Gameday in the South pretty much requires dressing up and I'm excited to pair lots of orange dresses with cowboy boots for each game.

After deciding on Clemson back in March, I quickly realized I had no Clemson orange clothing, which obviously had to change. I slowly bought pieces to get ready for school and this dress has to be one of my favorites.

When my mom and I were in Lilly a few weeks ago, I noticed that this one-shoulder dress had hints of orange and purple in it so it could work for gameday. My mom initially wasn't a fan but I decided to try it out anyways and it turns out that is so much cuter on! South Carolina in September and October can still be pretty hot so warm-weather clothing is a must for gameday!

Because obviously the Tigers are number 1 :)

Navy Ruffles + My Favorite Lilly Skort

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

Davidson, NC, USA
Happy Tuesday y'all! This post is prescheduled as I scheduled a bunch of posts before move-in day so that way I wouldn't have to worry about scheduling new posts during sorority recruitment (I'll be doing a post all about Bid Day tomorrow so check in for that but for now, be sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter for more updates on that!

I bought this skort a few weeks ago at Lilly and absolutely love it! It's so comfortable and easy to move in as well as being super cute. I paired it with a top that I bought at J. Crew over Spring Break last year (which you can read about here) but paired it with a t-shirt from Panhellenic for one of the days of recruitment.

My brother and I shot these pictures on Davidson College's campus, which is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for blog pictures, before I left for Clemson a few weeks ago.

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Favorites

Monday, August 28, 2017

Happy Monday y'all! Today is a super exciting day as not only is it Bid Day (more on that later), it's the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! I've shared a fit guide for the sale as well as my tips and tricks for the sale but if you haven't heard of the Lilly After Party Sale, it is basically the perfect time to stock up on some of your favorite Lilly pieces for way less than what they retail for normally!

The sale always has crazy-long lines (for good reason!) so unfortunately, that is why this post is going up later than usual but I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces available in the sale with y'all. One thing to note is that it's totally ok to buy out-of-season pieces as even though you may not want to wear cashmere now, you'll be happy you grabbed that cardigan now and a shift dress will never go out of style! I managed to snag this dress, this Elsa top, this top, this scarf, and this cardigan for my mom and I from the sale and I'm so excited for them to arrive.

Shift Dress- This is actually the dress I purchased from the sale! I tried in on in-store earlier this summer and loved it! The beading is so fun and you definitely can't go wrong with a classic Lilly shift from the APS.

Trapeze Dress- I own this dress (and styled it in this blog post) and it is seriously the perfect go-to dress. It's casual enough to wear during the day but it also works for brunch with friends or going out to dinner with your family.

Crop Top Set- I actually just bought this a few weeks ago and love how adorable it is! I'm typically not a crop top type of a girl but it is so so cute on!

Staple Tee- The sale is also the perfect time to stock up on Lilly staples, like this tee! This can be worn now with shorts and sandals and then into fall with jeans and a cardigan.

Callahan Chinos- These are the pant version of the famous Lilly Callahan short and they are so comfortable! I have them in another print but I love this adorable print!

Scarf- A printed Lilly scarf is the perfect way to jazz up any outfit and I love the color and pom-pom detailing!

Elsa Top- The Elsa top is one of my Lilly staples and the sale is the perfect time to snag one for less! You can totally wear it with shorts or skirts now and with jeans and riding boots later- I seriously wear mine year long!

One-Shoulder Dress- I also own this dress (it will be on the blog soon) and I definitely recommend picking it up while it's on sale! It looks adorable on and has the most amazing fabric- I can't wait to wear it for game day!

If you shopped the Lilly sale, what did you snag? Let me know in the comments!

My Chic Week: August 18-24

Friday, August 25, 2017

Happy Friday from TigerTown! It's crazy to think that I have been at Clemson for a week already as it's been so crazy with sorority recruitment and starting classes. I was expecting the Lilly Pulitzer sale to be this week and since it's actually this Monday, I didn't have a post go up since Sunday was crazy with recruitment!

Speaking of recruitment, that's the reason I've been a bit M.I.A on Instagram and Twitter! Hopefully, this weekend will go well and I'll have lots to share with y'all soon about it!

Friday was Move In Day here at Clemson and since my move in time wasn't until the mid morning (they give you a time that you can park in front of your building and unload everything), we didn't have to leave home at the absolute crack of dawn. We stopped at Starbucks for breakfast and were at Clemson before we knew it!

Once we got to Clemson, it was crazy getting everything unpacked and then organize (and pretty haha!). My whole family came to move me in, which was so sweet of them, but I realized dorm rooms don't give a lot of space for unpacking and decorating. I will also be doing a full dorm tour in a few weeks but for now, enjoy this little sneak peek!

In the afternoon, we took a break to go grab ice cream at a place in the student center that has delicious homemade ice cream (made by Clemson students!). I also had an orientation session for sorority recruitment so I said goodbye to my family before heading to that.

Friday night, we had orientation for recruitment and also met our Pi Chi (recruitment counselor). The family I nanny for gave me a box of treats from Amelies (which I went to last week with Amy!) so my roomie and I enjoyed those before an early bedtime!

Saturday was the first day of sorority recruitment here at Clemson and since my first party started at 8, I was up super bright and early. I visited 8 of Clemson's 13 sororities on Saturday but had a five hour break in the middle, which was nice. I actually wound up grabbing Starbucks with one of the girls on my hall during my break as we both needed some caffeine.

Sunday was another early morning as I had my last five parties and voted on my preferences before going to a few required events for new freshman (like a freshman profile test). After I took the test, I hung out with some of the girls on my hall and we went to a picnic at the President's house. I also had a meeting with my Pi Chi that night to find out my schedule for Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, I was able to "sleep in" till 7 (better than 5 the two days before) as recruitment didn't start till the afternoon and we had a few events in the morning for Welcome Week.

Monday was, of course, the Eclipse so I was luckily able to see that before heading back to recruitment.

We had our class picture on Wednesday so most of the freshman class went to the football stadium to spell out Tigers. Obviously, I was in the picture so I don't have any of them but Clemson did share a bunch on their social media.

After the picture, I had recruitment again and then voted after my rounds for the night finished!

Wednesday was the first day of class and thankfully my first class is a 9:05 rather than an 8. My roommate and I were able to grab breakfast and take pictures to send to our moms before class. Our lab classes at Clemson don't start for a few weeks so I had no classes in the afternoon, which was a great time to relax and catch up laundry.

Clemson Panhellenic hosted a barbecue for all the PNMS and Pi Chis to attend, which was a lot of fun. The food was delicious, it was great to spend time with my Pi Chi group, and they had King of Pops too!

After the barbecue, two girls in my Pi Chi group and I headed to downtown Clemson for the Welcome Festival, which was so fun! We walked around a bit and then headed back to our dorms. I showered, watched some Grey's, and then a bunch of the girls on my hall and I had movie night!

I am super lucky and don't have early classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I was able to sleep in on Thursday and get some stuff done before heading to my first class. I grabbed Chick-fil-a with a few girls in my Bio class before going back to my dorm to be productive (and work on this blog post honestly!).

I had my second class of the day, ate dinner, and then went to get fro-yo with my Pi Chi group! After getting fro-yo, I wound up going to FCA with two of the girls on my hall, which wound up being a lot of fun too!

On my Radar this Week:

1. The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! It's this Monday and I am so excited! Be sure to check out both my Lilly Pulitzer Fit Guide and my Tips & Tricks to prepare for the sale!

2. I am a big fan of making my bed each and every morning and this article definitely reaffirms why it's so important to make it part of your morning routine

4. The Emily Ley Team re-shared this old blog post of theirs in an email this week about how to keep your workspace tidy and it's a good reminder at the beginning of the school year!

5. Amy styled a fun Lilly skort on her blog this week and it looks so cute!

Happy Friday!

Freshman Year Bucket List

Thursday, August 24, 2017

Before I get too far into the start of the school year, I wanted to share a bucket list for my first year at Clemson with y'all on the blog. My friend Renee shared a similar post on her blog last year for her freshman year at Elon (where she is now a sophomore) and I thought it was such a good idea.

Some of these are specific to Clemson while other are a part of a "typical college experience". Hopefully, I will update this at the end of the year but definitely check out my "My Chic Week" series that is on the blog each week for more of an everyday look at life at Clemson so far.

I hope to check most of these off the list before the year ends so fingers crossed. I'm excited to participate in a bunch of Clemson's traditions, like the First Friday parade which is the day before the first home football game, and enjoy campus (Bowman Field is in front of Tillman and is gorgeous, here's a picture if you're curious!). Each time I toured campus, my tour guides talked about how there's multiple paper airplane statues hidden across campus so hopefully I'll be able to find them!

What is on your bucket list for this school year? Let me know in the comments!

Pref Night Outfit

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

I am so excited to be sharing this post with y'all today as it may be one of my favorite outfits of all time that I've shared here on Chic in Carolina (I don't want to know how many times I've said that before?). I'm currently in the midst of sorority recruitment here at Clemson (we finished Philanthropy Round yesterday and Sisterhood Round is Saturday) and I wanted to share what I am planning on wearing for Preference (most people just call it Pref) Night, which is the fanciest round of recruitment.

I bought this dress while I was in Chicago with my dad back in May and it is simply stunning. It is a bit pricy but it is such amazing quality and looks so cute on as well. I actually wore it for Baccalaureate back in June too!

This pearl necklace from J. Crew has been a staple in my wardrobe for a few years now and even though it seems like a statement piece of jewelry, it is so versatile and can be worn so many ways. I have worn it with dresses for homecoming in high school but have also worn it with jeans and a striped shirt for a more casual look.

Dress: Kate Spade (on sale!) Pearl Necklace: J. Crew Heels: Kate Spade

If you are in a sorority, what did you wear for preference night? Let me know in the comments!
