My Chic Week: July 29- August 4

Monday, August 8, 2016

Happy Monday y'all! I know I typically share "My Chic Week" posts with y'all on Fridays but our internet was pretty much turned off at my lake house (we have satellite internet there) and so I didn't have the time to write it for y'all! I didn't want to wait till this Friday to share last week's MCW so I figured I would post it today! This post recaps from when I last caught up with y'all to last Thursday (the 4th) so I'll be sharing the rest of my trip in Friday's post!

One of the things I love about being at the lake is how relaxed and easy it is. I can sleep in and then we spend the rest of the day on the water or at the beach there. So if it seems like a lot of the days are repetitive, that's why ;).

After dinner on Friday night, we had our neighbors who are really close friends of our family over to cook s'mores. S'mores is one of those foods that I only really have on vacation or randomly but it's such a quintessential summer activity (and it was on my summer bucket list!).

Saturday was a pretty typical day up in New York but that night was a bit different as we went to Mass and then out to dinner and ice cream afterwards. Sadly, I accidentally left my phone at home so I wasn't able to take any pictures!

The weather was pretty crummy on Sunday so we went out for a little cruise on the boat in the morning. My uncle left in the afternoon and then my family and I watched old home videos.

I've been going up to New York every summer since I was a baby (my mom and my grandmother both vacationed there as children too) and every year, we try to plan one day trips. There's so many fun places to explore in the Adirondacks and this year, we decided to venture over to Vermont to go tour the Ben & Jerry's Factory.

Ben & Jerry's is one of my favorite ice cream brands (it seriously can't be beat) so it was pretty cool to see a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at how they make their ice cream. And of course, we had to indulge in some while we were there ;)

That night, we had our neighbors over for dinner, which was so fun!

Tuesday morning, my mom, my brother, and I spent some time in town so that way we could go to a little coffee shop and connect to wifi for a bit. The Common App opened up on Monday so I was definitely eager to get some of my information logged in and get organized. I still (obviously) have a ton of work to do before submitting my applications in a few months but it's always good to get a head start. If you're a rising sophomore or junior, I would definitely recommend checking out my tips for beginning the college search process as it will be your turn to apply before you know it!

We headed home for some lunch and then went out on the lake! That night, we went over to our neighbor's for pizza and since I had wifi, I was able to go onto the new Instagram stories, which I have been loving! Be sure you're following me on Instagram so you can see my stories as well!

My aunt, my uncle, and my four cousins came to the lake on Wednesday so we went to the coffee shop again Wednesday morning to kill some time once they arrived. They arrived shortly after lunch and once they ate, we headed straight to the lake for an afternoon of tubing and hanging out at the beach!

Thursday is always the biggest day of our trip as it's Lobster Fest. My uncle who lives in Boston brings a bunch of lobsters up to the house and we have a big dinner with all my family and then family friends. I'm not a fan of lobster as I don't like seafood (fun fact about me) but it's a fun time nevertheless. We always spend the day out on the lake and then come back in for dinner!

  21. Your lake house looks like a ton of fun! I remember my college application stress when applications started to open up -- you're so right by just getting as much info in as you can as soon as possible, makes the whole process way less stressful!
