Blog Bloopers, Round Two

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

I did a Blog Bloopers post back in July (read it here) and I really loved it. I have so many pictures that definitely qualify as bloopers that definitely are too funny just to sit on my computer. Of course, every outfit photo has at least 10 bloopers for every good picture and these are just the ones that aren't too embarrassing but still hilarious nonetheless! I also linked the post each of these pictures belong to if y'all are interested in seeing the actual, cute pictures from that outfit!

Well, I don't have a comment on this one but, something must of shocked me!

How to Prep for the Week Ahead

Monday, January 11, 2016

It's Monday...the day of the week where you have to return back to class and waking up at 6 AM after 2 glorious days of sleeping in. Mondays stink (well at least for me they do) but they stink less when you're prepared (it's possible!). Today, I'm sharing with y'all how to fully prep for the week ahead so that way you are so much more efficient during the week!

Organize
I don't know about y'all but I need a clean room in order to get everything done. I just feel so much more productive and less stressed out when my room doesn't look like an earthquake just hit it. Spend a few minutes tidying up so that your room is clean and organized for the week ahead.

Have some "me time"
For me, weekdays can get busy. I have school all day and then throw in babysitting, SAT tutoring, my Faith Formation class, and not to mention homework and it seems like there is hardly any hours left in the day. Take a deep breath before it all begins and spend a little time doing what you love whether it be netflix binging, a bit of pampering, reading not for school or napping.

Do laundry
Start off the week fresh and get ahead so you don't have to do it at some other time! Also, fold and put away your clothes going off of the tip above!

Finish up last week's task
I just said to have some me time but the weekend is also great for catching up on last week's assignments or doing everything that is due on Monday. Get it done now so you have extra time later!

Update your Agenda
Add in that meeting that you just got an email for and the quiz in History and anything else that's coming up! This way you don't forget and your agenda is ready to go for the week!

Make your To-Do List
Write everything you know you need to do on a to-do list so you'll get it done! Definitely add to it during the week but just add the things you know you have to do already!

Catch some zzz's
If you can swing it, go to bed early! The extra sleep definitely will not hurt and it will make getting up a little easier come Monday morning if you slept a little longer the night before!

How do you prep for the week ahead? Let me know in the comments!

My Chic Week: January 1- 7

Friday, January 8, 2016

Sorry that this post is going up a bit later than usual today, I planned on finishing this post last night (Thursday) but unfortunately I had a boat load of homework so this post was pushed to the back burner! I also have practically no pictures to share with y'all this week but hopefully I'll have more to share next week!

After staying up late on New Year's Eve, I slept in super late, which was great! I spent the rest the day organizing and then just relaxing at home!

Saturday morning, I slept in (again) and then got ready for the day. My mom, brother, and I went to go see the final Hunger Games movies and I know I am totally late in seeing it (that is what happens when it comes out the same weekend as Homecoming and then you have exams!) but oh my goodness, it was amazing!

Saturday night, to celebrate New Year's and for the last night of Christmas Break, my family and I ate our favorite steakhouse down in SouthPark. After break, it is safe to say I need to go on a major detox diet (too many Christmas cookies) but dinner was amazing and it was great to spend some quality time with my family before starting school again on Monday!

I wore my homecoming dress, which is featured in this post!

Sunday was my last day of Christmas Break so I spent the day running errands with my mom, reading, blogging, and relaxing before school started the next day!

School began again on Monday morning but I didn't have class quite yet as my school puts on a program called Bridge Week each year. Bridge Week bridges the first and second semesters together and for a week, my school attends lectures and participates in various activities. This year, Bridge Week only was three days so class began again on Thursday (and so did homework, explaining why this post is up later than usual).

This week has definitely a bit of a struggle readjusting to homework and school, which explains my lack of an active presence on Instagram. Next week is my last week of the first semester but I am definitely starting to feel the stress of the second semester from signing up for my SATs and ACTs, beginning college essays, and getting my midterm exam grades back. I am so excited for a weekend to get ahead on some homework and to hopefully pre-plan some blog posts for y'all to read this week!

On my radar this week:

1. I uploaded my first YouTube video, a "What I Got For Christmas 2015" video! Be sure to watch it here!

2. This outfit from Amy is gorgeous and makes me long for spring (seriously how long till spring break?)

3. The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale was Monday and my mom shopped for me as I started school (thanks mom!). She said the line took a lot longer than last summer and the app wasn't working but I still picked up a few great pieces! I am so excited for my pieces to get here (hopefully soon!)
4. Love Caroline's detox plan for kicking off 2016!

5. Kate Spade just released their new arrivals and they are gorgeous! My favorites are this dress, this bow top, this bikini top, this striped wallet, and this eat cake for breakfast cake plate!

Be sure to check out my posts from this past week!

Tips For: Staying On Top of Your Emails

Thursday, January 7, 2016

A pretty common resolution for the new year is to stay more organized! I love, love, love organization and try to keep things as organized as possible. Your email inbox is probably one of the most "cluttered" areas of your life so I decided that I would share my tips for keeping your inbox contained and organized today!

As a high school student, email is one of the most common forms of communication I use. I use it for practically every aspect of my life and as a result, I have acquired quite a few email addresses to keep track of. The thing about emailing is if you don't constantly stay on top of it, you'll have 1,000 emails in your inbox before you know it! Since nobody wants (or needs) that, here are my tips for keeping your inbox under control!

Create Folders
This definitely differs for each of my email accounts but folders are your best friend! For my school email, I have a folder for each year of high school, which is then divided up by my classes. For my personal, it's divided up by what I get emails from (for example: school, shopping, family). For blogging, I divide it up by general blog info, collabs with brands and other companies, and then for each of the blogging networks I'm involved in. You definitely should tailor your folders to aspects of your life so they work best for you!

Move Emails into the Folder they fit in
As soon as I get an email (and if I don't need it at the moment, which I'll talk about below), I'll move it into the folder it belongs to so that way I keep my number of emails at 0 or as close to 0 as possible!

Delete Everything That Doesn't Apply to You
That email you got from the brand you don't particularly like? Delete! Spam mail? Delete! Only move things that will be useful again to you again into your folders (discount codes from J. Crew, any emails from school, meeting information, etc) and delete the rest!

Create Groups
If you are in charge of sending emails to a large group of people, do yourself a favor and add all of the recipients into a group! This way you only have to type in the name of your group rather than the emails of fifty people!

Only Keep the Important Items in your main Inbox
Since I move everything into folders as soon as I receive it (ex. that Lilly email into my shopping folder), I only keep the very important emails in my main inbox. Typically, for me, this means something I need to reply to, Google docs for a group assignment, something I need to add to my calendar, or something I need as a reminder (ex. meeting during lunch on Tuesday)

Reply ASAP
Working off the tip above, but be sure to respond as fast as possible if the email requires a reply! I will leave that email in my main inbox so I see it and respond in a timely fashion. It is so much more polite to respond quickly, especially involving a time-sensitive issue (ex. an email asking "What do we need to bring on Friday" should be responded to before Friday).

How do you keep your email organized? Let me know in the comments!

Winter Favorites

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

After the extremely warm temperatures North Carolina experienced over Christmas, it is finally starting to feel like winter again. Even though I love spring and I'm counting down the days until I can break out my favorite shift dresses, shorts, and sandals, it is nice to be able to wear sweaters and riding boots! Also, this is my first outfit post of 2016, which is very exciting!

This J. Crew Factory sweater is so comfy and I'm obsessed with the pockets! I love, love, love Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarves (they are cashmere with makes them so soft!) and it pairs perfectly with the sweater and my new riding boots that I got for Christmas! I'm obsessed with the classic look the riding boots and Longchamp bag adds to this outfit!

December Favorites

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

I cannot believe that December (and 2015!) are officially over! Since we're already into January, I figured it would be the perfect time to share with y'all my December Favorites! I have been loving these Favorites post as it's fun to see what other bloggers have been loving lately plus I love looking back at my own to see all of my favorites from previous months!

Kate Spade Bow Back Dress- I wore this dress for Christmas and it was absolutely perfect for the occasion! Another plus, it's currently on sale!

Lilly Pulitzer T-Shirt Dress- If y'all have read this post, you know all about my obsession with the Lilly Pulitzer print Let's Cha Cha. I have worn this dress so often this past month not to mention it is super comfy and flattering! Definitely a winner in my book!

Kendra Scott Necklace- I received this necklace for Christmas (watch my "What I Got For Christmas 2015" video here) and I absolutely love it! I have worn it so many times already and it pairs with practically everything in my closet!

Lilly Pulitzer Agenda- With midterm exams in December, my agenda was my saving grace! It definitely kept my life together and added some color into nights of what seemed like endless studying! See how I organize my agenda here!

Headphones- Between studying and traveling, these headphones were a lifesaver for a bit of quiet and to listen to music (and Netflix!).

Clinique Brush- Another Christmas gift that I just adore! This has definitely pulled up a lot of acne from my face and I'm starting to see clearer skin! Not to mention, it makes your skin so soft! I would definitely recommend starting to use this over a week when you have a break or you don't care what your skin looks like because it pulls up a ton of acne (to get rid of it, which is a good thing)!

Starbucks Gold Card (image via)- I finally earned my Starbucks Gold Card this month and I'm so excited for the physical card to come in the mail soon!

Lilly Pulitzer Make Up Brushes (image via)- When I took a shopping trip to Southpark mall earlier in December, I received this Lilly Pulitzer Make Up Brushes as a Gift With Purchase (so unfortunately they are no longer available). They are such high quality brushes and apply my makeup perfectly!

OPI "Bubble Bath"- My go-to nail polish this month! It's such a great nude and pairs well with every outfit!

Kate Spade Euro Sham- This pillows are too adorable and add such a cute touch to my room (which I'm currently re-doing! See the inspiration here!).

What were your December Favorites? Let me know in the comments!
