Big/Little Reveal + Semi Formal

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Happy Thursday y'all! Sorry for the delay for the lack of posts this week- Fall Break starts on Friday (!!!) but I've been crazy busy with tests and studying before that. Thankfully, I had my last test of the week this morning so it's just getting through classes before heading home for break!

If you read my "My Chic Week" post last Friday, you know that it has been a fun few weeks in terms of my sorority. Big/Little week was two weeks ago and for those of you who aren't as familiar with Greek life, a big sister is a girl who is typically a year older than the little or is in the pledge class above her (my big is a sophomore). My pledge class put down three girls we would want to have as our bigs and then the girls taking littles wrote down three girls they would want to have as their littles. The bigs find out who their littles are and then leave them presents and clues leading up to reveal!

To make it even more exciting, we had our semi-formal the same night as reveal! After reveal, I got ready with my big and then we went to semi, which was so much fun!

My roomie for next year and I!

A Dressed Up Version of My Go-To Campus OOTD

Monday, October 9, 2017

Clemson, SC 29634, USA
Happy Monday y'all! I'm not really excited that the weekend is over but Fall Break starts on Friday and I have a fun new outfit post to share with y'all today so that makes it better, right? Greek U recently reached out to me to collaborate and I am absolutely obsessed with this cute Theta tee they sent me. I mean the color is gorgeous and the pineapples are so fun!

Most days I'm usually wearing norts (nike shorts) and a t-shirt around campus but this outfit is perfect for days where you want to look a tad bit more put-together but still be super comfortable!

My Chic Week: September 22 - October 5

Saturday, October 7, 2017

Happy happy Friday! So it's been a while since my last "My Chic Week" post so I decided that I would catch y'all up on the past two weeks in one MCW post to get back onto track in terms of posting. I will be sharing a separate blog post about Big/Little reveal and then our semi-formal as I have so many pictures from both of those!

Two weekends ago was family weekend and I was so excited to have my family in Clemson with me. My dad was originally not going to be able to make it as he had a family wedding to go to on Saturday but he surprised me and picked me up at my dorm on Friday afternoon.

Clemson is about 45 minutes from Greenville, South Carolina where my family's hotel was so we went to dinner at Nose Dive in downtown Greenville, which was amazing! I had the Chicken & Waffles and then we walked to get ice cream before heading back to the hotel.

We drove back to Clemson Saturday morning as it was game day! I showed my family around campus, stopped by my sorority hall, and then saw some family friends who were in town for the game. It was my family's first Clemson football game so it was so much fun to share that experience with them and teach them all of the cheers.

We would up leaving after half-time as it was roasting outside and hung out in my dorm room for a bit to cool down before going to my sorority's Parent Cocktail. It was fun to introduce my family to some of my sisters and afterwards, we drove back to Greenville.

After a quick breakfast at Starbucks, I said goodbye to my family and then headed back to campus. I had some homework to work on and then I had a meeting and then chapter for Theta.

Two Monday's ago was fairly normal, nothing too crazy! Tuesday morning was a busy one as it was my first day in the field placement. Even though I'm a freshman, we do one hour of field work every week and so far mine has been super great!

After field work, I had a biology test and then met up with Ashley and Elizabeth at a local coffee shop, which was too much fun. After following each other on social media for so long, it was fun to hang out in person and coffee doesn't hurt either!

Last Friday was Big/Little reveal so last week was picking up gifts and clues from our bigs. The first day of gifts was candy and then the second day was canvases. The third day was t-shirts (which I forgot to take a picture of) and then after reveal, my big gave me a big basket of Theta goodies!

Wednesday and Thursday were both pretty busy with writing a paper for one of my classes and then the first day of semi-formal for my sorority.

Last Friday was a super exciting as it was Big/Little reveal followed by semi-formal! I'm planning to share a post all about these next week but couldn't help but share a few pictures now!

Last Saturday was an away football game so I slept in super late and then got breakfast with my roomie at the dining hall by stopping by my sorority hall to see my big!

I didn't do anything too exciting on Saturday- just worked out some homework! My roommate and I got dinner at Moe's and then got ice cream at Spill the Beans before watching the game in one of our neighbor's room, which was a lot of fun.

Sunday morning, my roomie and I went to Church and then I had a sorority meeting in the afternoon. Our chapter got canceled at the last minute as we weren't able to get into the building so I unexpectedly had more free time in the afternoon, which was used to study for my math test the next day! Two of my friends in the class and I camped out in the library Sunday night to study for the test

Monday was a busy day getting back into the swing of things and I also had a test in Math, which is always fun!

Tuesday, I was up bright and early for student teaching, which is fun and always makes the early wake up call worth it. The girl I carpool with and I grabbed Starbucks before our next class and ran into another friend, which was fun!

I grabbed lunch with one of the girls on my hall and then had my other class of the day. After class, I went to an event for Theta and then went to the gym.

Wednesdays are a pretty busy day of class as I have my usual Monday/Wednesday/Fridays plus a 3 hour lab. I'm planning on sharing a "A Day in my Life" post soon so be on the lookout for that!

After my lab on Wednesday, I wound up going to a coffee shop in downtown Clemson, which was a great time to be productive and get off campus for a little bit (even though it's like a 5 minute walk away).

It's homecoming week here in Clemson so I pomped for our float Wednesday afternoon. One of the girls in my sorority ordered pizza and it was fun to catch up with some of my sorority sisters. Plus, I met Dabo, our head football coach, and the president of the University stopped by our tent!

Thursday morning, I was able to be really productive before class started, which I absolutely loved!

After class, Elizabeth helped me take a few pictures for a collaboration I'm doing with a brand, which was so sweet of her. The rest of my afternoon was fairly normal and I grabbed Starbucks before my 3:30 class.

After class, I went to the gym with my roomie, which was much needed!

On my Radar:

1. Homecoming! Today is our homecoming game and after the floats being up all week, I am so excited!

2. Mackenzie shared the app been on her blog this week and I think it's so cool. Basically, you can enter all the countries or states of the U.S. that you have traveled to and it calculates the percentage of the world/country that you have seen. I haven't done any global travel yet but it definitely gives you a bit of wanderlust.

3. Frannie's Sweet Potato Pancakes recipe sounds amazing

4. Have you seen that Lilly has re-released the men's line so your whole family can match? Too cute!

5. I love Carly's apple picking pictures

Happy Friday!

September Favorites

Thursday, October 5, 2017

A post I always love to share with y'all each month is my monthly favorites. I always feel like writing them signals "Hey, it's actually a new month" (I mean how on earth is it already October?) and it's also fun to look back at some of the things I loved that month.

September was a busy month as it was my first full month at Clemson and I think I have definitely settled into a routine of sorts. My college schedule (which I'll be sharing next week on the blog) is a bit more all over the place than my high school schedule as it is a bit less scheduled and changes by the day. My favorites kind of reflect this as they're items that I have relied on in adjusting to my new schedule.

Tuckernuck Black Dress- I am planning on doing an outfit post featuring this gorgeous dress but I couldn't help but share it here with y'all too. I love how chic and classic it is- I mean look at the bow! It also comes in a fun coral color, which I love too! I wore it for my sorority semi-formal this month and I'm planning on wearing it for Christmas too. It's also quite a deal for how great the quality it is!

Caramel Almond Pumpkin Spice KIND Bars- I love granola bars (I seriously brought a box of 100 with me to college) but these are seriously the best. I discovered these last year and my mom is the absolute sweetest and found them in Target and brought them with her to family weekend.

Papaw Ointment- This may be my weirdest favorite this month but my lips have been super chapped lately so this has definitely come in handy. My family has sworn by Papaw for years after family friends found it on a trip to Australia (it's an Australian brand) and it's amazing for chapped lips!

Bare Minerals Powder Foundation- I honestly don't wear a ton of makeup most days while out and about on campus but I typically do wear this foundation with a little mascara just so I don't look like I just rolled out of bed. It looks good on its own as well as with concealer and liquid foundation underneath and makes you look a bit more polished.

Weekly Organizer- I still swear by my Day Designer agenda but this weekly organizer that I found at HomeGoods over the summer is great for seeing my week as a whole (one draw back of the Day Designer). I write my to-dos for each day as well as things going on like meetings or tests.

Lululemon Align Pants- Definitely not the first time I've talked about how amazing these are and definitely not the last. It's finally starting to cool down a bit here in South Carolina so I've been reaching for these for chilly morning walks to class. They're so flattering on and super comfortable too!

What were your September Favorites? Let me know in the comments!

Lately... (Part 6)

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

Happy Wednesday y'all! So it's been a week and a half since my last post here on Chic in Carolina and that was definitely not intentional. I don't want to make excuses and say "oh my gosh, I was so busy" but college is definitely an adjustment in terms of managing your time and I haven't quite perfected fitting a consist blogging schedule in there (I'll get there, I promise).

Since it has been a while since my last post, I figured it would be fun to do a "Lately" post where I talk about some things that have been going on lately or I have been loving or whatever! I have a lot going on in terms of Greek life (big/little reveal was last week and initiation is next week!) that I'm planning on updating y'all on as well as a long "My Chic Week" post to catch y'all up. This is definitely a look into my day-to-day life for now and I'm excited to share lots of fun content with y'all soon!

A snap from Parent's Weekend, which I'll be sharing more about on Friday!

Eating...
everything pumpkin! I absolutely love pumpkin (#basic) so I have been loving everything from pumpkin bread to pumpkin cookies to pumpkin flavored granola bars haha!

Drinking...
Lime La Croix. I've been oddly obsessed with La Croix since coming to Clemson and my absolute favorite is the Lime flavor- I always get a bunch whenever I'm at the grocery store and I had my mom bring a bunch when they visited for Family Weekend!

Listening...
to Spotify's "Chillin' on a Dirt Road" playlist. It has been my go-to while studying in the library and has all of my country favorites on it- definitely recommend!

Wearing...
I'm going to be honest here and say if I'm not dressed up for student teaching or Church and sorority meetings on Sundays, I'm usually in running shorts (norts) and a t-shirt. I purchased these shorts from Lululemon over the summer and I basically live in them as they're so comfortable! I am wanting to be more routine in taking pictures of what I wear on my "dress up days" and share them with y'all either on the blog or on Instagram.

Loving...
Snapchat! I literally downloaded the app on Monday (I know I'm late to the game with that one...) after Riley pretty much forced me to get an account. I've only had it for two days but it's been such a fun way to keep up with friends throughout the day!

Reading...
I honestly haven't been doing a lot of reading lately as I haven't had the time but I read The Dazzling Heights a few weeks ago and thought it was really good!

Watching...
If you read my last "Lately..." post, you know that I started Grey's Anatomy over the summer. Well, I'm still watching it as there's 12 seasons on Netflix and it doesn't help that I'm the world's slowest Netflix watcher!

Needing...
to get back on track with blogging. I've been all over the place during the past few weeks and I want to get back into a consistent schedule, especially with social media as I've been slacking off with that! I'm hoping to do a few outfit shoots with some of my Clemson blogger girls so hopefully things will be on more of an usual schedule soon!

Excited...
for Fall Break! I'm going to be visiting Riley at USC and then will be going home for the first time since August! I'm so excited to celebrate my little brother's birthday with my birthday, eat home-cooked meals, take showers with flip flops on, and see my puppies!

Excited... (Part 2)
that I will be living in my sorority hall next year! Clemson is a bit different than other big state schools as we have halls on campus rather than large sorority houses. Sophomores typically live on the hall and I just found out this week that I will be living on the hall next year so I am so excited. I will be rooming with one of my friends in my pledge class and it's going to be so much fun

Wanting...
everything for fall! It's gotten a bit chillier in Clemson this week and it makes me excited for the season ahead. I'm switching my closet over once I'm home for fall break but I can't help but online shop for some new favorites too haha. I love this wrap dress, this scarf, this navy top, this gorgeous dress, this cashmere cardigan, this workout skort, this dress, this sweater, this swing dress, this cashmere sweater, this striped shirt, this t-shirt with the cutest bow detail, this shift dress

So tell me, what have y'all been up to lately?
