My Chic Week October 2-8

Friday, October 9, 2015

Hey y'all and happy Friday! I'm sorry for a bit of a blogging silence this week on Instagram and the late posts that went up today! I have had a crazy busy and stressful week at school so unfortunately I didn't have any time to write new posts or take pictures to post! Thanks for sticking with me around here and hopefully I'll be a lot more active next week! Anyways, let's hop into My Chic Week!

Friday was quite the busy day. It was Mass Day at my school so I had to dress up (which was the perfect excuse to break out my riding boots). After school, I babysat for a little bit before heading back home to start cleaning out my closet and then hang out with my family.

With the rains from the hurricane brought cold temperatures. I was so excited to break out this new sweater from J. Crew Factory along with a few favorites from last season: this J. Crew vest (similar here) and this Lilly scarf (same style here)

Saturday was pretty relaxed as I pretty much just switched over my closet to my fall clothes and organized my room, did homework, and hung out at home. My next-door neighbors just got two puppies, that are absolutely precious, so my family and I definitely went next door a few times to see the puppies!

On Sunday morning, I slept in and then edited an essay that was due at noon. I spent the whole afternoon doing homework and then studying for a Pre-Calc test so nothing too exciting!

Monday through Thursday was quite busy and stressful for me as they were full of tests, meetings, a make up essay, assignments, a college information session, and babysitting. It has definitely been a stressful week for me and I am definitely looking forward to the weekend to unwind a bit and get ahead in homework and what not!

On my Radar:

1. Catch up on what all your favorites on Gossip Girl (other than S and B) have been up to lately in this article from Town and Country.

2. During advisory (my school's version of homeroom) last week, we took this personality test and it is freakily accurate. It is pretty funny because if you google your personality type, you can find how you would be as a parent.

3. I received a preview of the Lilly Pulitzer Resort collection in the mail this week and oh my gosh y'all, it is gorgeous! Definitely start saving your money now!

4. Kate Spade is having a 25% off sale on all sale items. I bought this gorgeous dress for Christmas and I am so excited for it to arrive! The sale ends on the 12th so y'all have plenty of time to shop if interested!

5. I've decided I'm dressing up as Elle Woods for an upcoming Halloween costume party. Any costume ideas?

How to Style Lilly for Fall

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Oh my gosh y'all, I am so excited for today's post! It is no secret that I love Lilly Pulitzer (the fact that 95% of my outfit posts includes at least 1 Lilly items shows this) so I was excited when I got a request on Instagram to show how to style Lilly for Fall. I was planning on doing a few outfit posts featuring my favorite cold weather Lilly pieces but due to the all the rain we had last week (it seriously rained for week straight here), I wasn't able to take pictures so instead I put together a few outfits for y'all (let me know if you would still want to see those outfit posts, I would love to do that if y'all are interested)!

Lilly is full of bright and loud prints which doesn't always coincide with fall style. However, I am a firm believer that color in your outfit adds a bit of happiness to your day, which can be extremely helpful for once it gets super cold and dreary out! I put together some outfits for y'all that are fall appropriate but still have the Lilly (perfect for wanting to wear Lilly but it's too cold to wear your favorite summer shifts).

Transitioning into Fall with Lilly

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

I love bright colors and, of course, I love my Lilly Pulitzer. Even in the middle of winter, you'll probably find me wearing a Lilly Pulitzer Elsa or some other Lilly item that is a bit better suited to the cold weather. Anyways, the fall temperatures are starting to fall here in North Carolina (especially with the hurricane rolling in last weekend) and while I'm not quite (emotionally) ready to pack away all of my shift dresses and shorts and sandals, I have started to transition some of my favorite summer pieces for the start of fall.

I blogged about this Lilly Iona top before during my trip to Upstate New York (read it here) and it's probably one of my favorite tops I own. However the bright pinks and green and yellow definitely scream summer. To transition it a little better, I paired it with dark wash jeans and my Jacks. I didn't show this in any of the picture, but later on that night, I also added a light blue Lilly cardigan (that I adore, seriously Amalie, which is the name of the style, cardigans are amazing and I highly suggest adding one or more to your closet!).

Top- Lilly Pulitzer (similar) Jeans- American Eagle (similar) Sandals- Jack Rogers Earrings- Kendra Scott Bracelets- David Yurman (similar)

Fall Wishlist

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Last weekend, I switched over from my spring and summer closet to my fall and winter closet (I keep all of my out-of-season clothing in two Lilly Pulitzer bins on the top shelf of my closet). I also did a bit of purging of old clothing (like those sweaters from the 7th grade...). Having all of my fall and winter clothes out on my bedroom floor really made me realize what essentials I need want to buy for fall!

Ralph Lauren Button Up- I've been wanting this button up for a while and I honestly think it is a multi-seasonal piece. It is definitely on the expensive side but it is a timeless piece that I can envision myself wearing in so many outfits!

Striped Dress- I really want a navy and white striped casual dress (I have a plethora of navy and white striped tops and a fancier dress but no casual dresses!) to wear with vests and riding boots. This Vineyard Vines dress is so cute and it's currently on sale!

Sweater- Last weekend, I realized I don't have a lot of sweaters. This sweater from J. Crew Factory is so fun with the jewel detailing, not to mention it's currently 40% off!

Riding Boots- I adore my current pair of riding boots but they have definitely seen better days considering I wear them practically every day during the winter. These Tory Burch boots are gorgeous and they are definitely on my Christmas list!

What is on your fall wishlist? Let me know in the comments!

Updated Workout Routine

Monday, October 5, 2015

It's been a while since I shared my workout routine (read my last one here!) and honestly, since I have worked out! I am super excited for fall temperatures so I can go and run outside and not have it be 100 degrees out! I really want to get into a good workout routine and make it apart of my schedule!

Lately, I have been obsessed with the elliptical, I like it so much better than running even though they are both essentially the same thing! I love it so much that my mom and I have talked about getting one for the house (yes please!). One thing I like about the elliptical is that I find a move at a much faster pace than on the treadmill since there is not really an option just to walk! The rest of my workout is basically the same as before!

What is your workout routine? What exercises do y'all swear by? Let me know in the comments!

My Chic Week September 25- October 1

Friday, October 2, 2015

Happy Friday y'all! I am so glad that today is Friday since I have had such a busy week! Since it has been so busy, I haven't been as active on social media and all so I am glad to get back to posting on Instagram and Twitter so just stick with me! I have been pretty busy catching up in my classes from missing three days last week not to mention the rest of my schoolwork!

Friday was our last full day in Alabama so my family and I slept in and grabbed coffee before having breakfast at my grandfather's house. We hung out there for a while before going back to the hotel to get ready for the day. We went out to lunch and then spent the afternoon by the pool. After a few hours poolside (and a yummy Piña Colada), we went back to our rooms to get ready for dinner at my grandfather's. We had fajitas for dinner and then went back to the hotel to head to bed!

A behind-the-scenes shot from Tuesday's outfit post! My brother snapped this and I thought it was too pretty not to share!

Saturday morning, my family and I got up bright and early to head back home! It was quite a long drive, not to mention rainy and gross, so I was very glad when we got home (even though I had to go edit an essay). On Sunday, I babysat all day for the cutest little kid. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of pictures from the weekend since I was either in the car, babysitting, or studying!

Monday was quite the busy day as I had to get caught up in all of my classes and also had a lot of homework! I had Faith Formation after school, which I love having on Mondays since being around kids is a perfect way to get into a better mood (at least for me)!

Tuesday was full of more make up quizzes, a test, and more studying! After school, I had a meeting with the admissions counselor of one of the colleges I'm looking into so that was very exciting! After my meeting, I came home, ate a quick dinner, then did some more homework and studied (sense a trend here?).

Wednesday and Thursday were full of makeup tests, homework, college visits in school, more homework, and babysitting! Nothing all that exciting that y'all probably want to hear about in detail!

On my radar:

1. Hurricane Joaquin, the weather here in Charlotte has been awful (Wednesday was the only sunny day all week) and they are forecasting 10 inches of rain this weekend!

3. This post from Cathleen on the daily thoughts of a high schooler seriously made me laugh so hard!

4. Tory Burch is currently having their fall event with savings of 20% off a purchase of $300, 25% off a purchase of $500, and 30% off a purchase of $750. Reva flats and Miller sandals are not included in the sale, but it is the perfect time to buy Riding Boots!

5. Love this post from Frannie on Appreciation

September Favorites

Thursday, October 1, 2015

I cannot believe that it is already October! October is one of my favorite months and I cannot wait for some fall-esque weather around here but I honestly cannot believe how fast the month has gone! I decided to start a monthly series where I share each month's favorite products with y'all!

Lululemon Tank- I picked this tank top up at my local Lululemon (and it was on sale for under $30!). It is so cute and I have been wearing a ton. I love to wear it to workout (duh) but also to just chill out and do homework after school!

Lilly Pulitzer Agenda- Where would I be without my Lilly agenda? A must have for any student and it definitely helps me stay organized and on top of things! See how I organize mine here!

Tory Burch Revas- These have been my go to shoes for school! I love how chic they look and they are fairly comfy! They are a bit of a splurge but definitely worth it in my opinion!

Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt Kind Bars- These bars are so yummy! I am a big granola bar addict and I always keep one in my backpack and purse so I can have one as a snack when on the go!

Lilly Pulitzer Tumbler Cup- I have two of these cups and I always bring one with me to school. I love that they hold a lot of water and the straw is definitely helpful for drinking more water. I have been trying to drink more water lately so bringing this to school and filling it up all day definitely helps! One thing about these cups though- do not put them in the dishwasher! It causes the cup to be deformed!

What are your September favorites? Let me know in the comments!
