Fitbit Alta Review

Monday, February 13, 2017

If you have been following Chic in Carolina for a while, you may remember my Fitbit Charge post from last spring. One of my 101 in 1001 goals was to get a Fitbit and about a year ago, I got the Charge. I loved it and wore it religiously until it broke sometime in October. Since it broke, I wasn't able to wear it and only used it as an alarm clock haha.

Last month, I was talking to my mom about getting a new Fitbit and she asked me if I had looked into the warranty for my old one. Fitbit's customer service was amazing and I was able to get a brand new Fitbit Alta for a discounted price. I seriously like the Alta a lot better so I decided to talk about that with y'all!

The Size
After having the Charge, which is a lot bulkier, the Alta feels slimmer and definitely is easier to incorporate into day-to-day outfits. Although, you aren't going to mistake it for a bracelet anytime soon, it doesn't scream "I'm wearing a fitness band!!" like the Charge did (in my opinion).

The Step Reminders
The Alta allows you to set a step goal for each hour from 9 AM till 5 PM (when you're usually the most active) and it will vibrate to remind you if you haven't reached it that hour yet. Mine is set at 250 steps a hour and it is a great reminder to get up and get moving throughout the day.

The Battery Life
My Fitbit holds a fairly long battery life as I can get away with a few days of not charging it. It also charges really quickly as I can plug it in while I shower and it will be ready to go once I'm done.

Sleep Tracking
This is definitely one of my favorite features of Fitbits. If you wear your Fitbit to bed, it will track how long you sleep, how many times you're awake during the night, and how many times you're restless. My mom thinks this feature is a bit creepy but I love seeing the details of my sleep and how it affects my day!

The App
There is a Fitbit app that you can download on the App Store and it definitely is one of the best parts of owning a Fitbit. It is so easy to use and allows to you to input all sorts of different things for a fuller Fitbit experience.

Exercise Tracking
My old Fitbit had this as well but I have definitely used this more recently. Fitbits allow you to both set an exercise goal for the week (mine is four days of exercising a week) and also track it. The goal definitely motivates me to get my booty to the barre and I love that inputing it into the app after class is a rewards of sorts for finishing the class.

The Band
I bought the pink band with the gold detailing on the side and it is so cute and matches a lot of what I wear. The Charge I had before was a blue-ish/gray color and stood out from everything I wore. I like that the gold complements my jewelry as well, which makes it look a bit less fitness tracker-y if that makes sense.

Do you have a Fitbit? If so, which one do you have? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I don't have a fitbit but used to use the Up band and loved how it worked!
