Lessons I Learned My Freshman Year of College

Thursday, May 10, 2018

I shared a recap of my second semester of freshman year on Tuesday but I also wanted to share with y'all a post summing up some of the lessons I learned throughout my freshman year. Starting college and leaving home is definitely a time of change and I definitely learned a lot, which I feel most people my age would agree with.

Even though I did learn a lot in the classroom, most of the lessons I learned happen outside of the classroom. I definitely grew a lot as a person this past year and know I'll continue to grow throughout my time at Clemson.

A call home never fails

Find the good in every day

You can never have enough comfort colors t-shirts

Nothing brightens your day like running into a friend on campus

Stand up for what you believe in

Early bedtimes are rare and definitely cherished

Big truly knows best

Live in the moment

Go to office hours

It's ok to do things on your own

No one really cares what you wear to class

Friendships change and while some grow, it's ok to let go of others

The grass isn't always greener on the other side

Shower shoes are a necessity

And so is coffee

Instagram is a highlight reel

Sometimes getting off campus for a little bit is all you need

Friends should lift you up and help you grow, look for this type of friends

Be nice to everyone

It's ok to not know what you're doing

What lessons did you learn this school year? Let me know in the comments!

  8. It sounds like you had a long year, but from that time you've learned from every experience you encountered. It gets so much easier after this!

  9. I've been out of college for two years now & still live by the "you can never have too many Comfort Color t-shirts" rule, so don't forget that one ;)

  10. I remember my first semester of college and how exciting it was to leave campus! It was so refreshing to hop on the bus and head downtown to do some shopping or go eat food that wasn't from the dining hall. One thing I learned was that it's okay to not know what you want to do with your life. Chances are, not many people do!
