Second Semester of Freshman Year Recap

Tuesday, May 8, 2018

Happy Tuesday y'all! It's crazy to think that freshman year is already over and to wrap it up, I wanted to share a recap post with y'all. I shared one last semester and I love how it sums up the semester and gives me something to look back on as well.

For all of y'all who may not know, I just finished my freshman year at Clemson University in South Carolina where I am a Kappa Alpha Theta. I absolutely love Clemson and I'm so excited that I have three more years here (four if I get my master's haha!)

Clemson
I talked about how much I love Clemson in last semester's recap but I can honestly tell you that Clemson is the perfect fit for me. Seeing this year's seniors decide on what schools they will call home in the fall has definitely made me think of where I was a year ago and even though I had my doubts of whether Clemson was the place for me, all of that doubt has completely disappeared. I love how gorgeous Clemson's campus is, all of the amazing friends I have made, and everything Clemson has given to me. I'm excited to be home for the summer and spend time with my family but was also so sad to be leaving Clemson!

Theta!
I went through sorority recruitment and joined Theta early last semester but I feel like I've really been able to grow in my sorority this semester. It's funny because the start of the year you don't really know anyone and I'm so glad that I've found "my people" in Theta. I also started serving my chapter as our Service Director, which I absolutely love!

Classes
Of course, I take classes at college and this past semester I took Math for Elementary School Teachers 2, Introduction to Physical Science, Intermediate Spanish 2, Public Speaking, and World Regional Geography. This semester was a lot more general education requirements than last semester and let's just say that I'm excited to be taking more education classes in the fall.

Friends
I was talking to one of my friends and we both agreed that second semester is a lot better than first semester in the sense that you really know your friends. First semester can be somewhat awkward as you're still meeting people and you're unsure if you're really friends or not haha! I'm thankful that this semester I've been able to grown my friendships from last semester and also make some new ones!

MLK Day Trip to Greenville
We had Martin Luther King Jr. Day off from class so my friends and I decided to go into Greenville for the day. Clemson is about 45 minutes away from Greenville and it's such a cute little city. We went to brunch at Tandem, which is like one of my favorite places ever, and then spent the afternoon walking around downtown!

Founder's Day
Theta's founder's day is in January so my chapter hosted a brunch to celebrate! Being a college student, I will never complain about the chance the eat "real food" haha!

Weekend Trip to Charleston
In February, I took a weekend trip to Charleston, which is the cutest city ever. My family typically summers in Kiawah, which is 45 minutes from Charleston, but I hadn't been to Charleston since my junior year of high school (which you can read about here)!

Theta Formal
We had our sorority formal in March, which was so much fun. It was so fun getting all dressed up and then dancing the night away too!

Spring Break
I decided to go home for Spring Break this year, which was such a good decision as I was able to relax and spend some time with my family! I will be in Africa next spring break so it was nice to have this year's break be a relaxing one!

Easter Trip to Florida
I was able to fly down and spend Easter weekend with my family in Florida, which was such a fun weekend away! We were able to squeeze in a day at the beach and enjoy a delicious Easter brunch.

My Birthday + Spring Game
I turned 19 last month and my family came into town to celebrate! We went to lunch with some of my friends and then Clemson actually had our spring football game that day too!

Theta in Paradise
We had another function in April and it was paradise themed, which was too much fun! I always love having an excuse to dress up and it was fun to hang out with my friends before we all headed our separate ways for the summer!

Thanks for reading!
