My Chic Week: August 4-10

Friday, August 11, 2017

Happy Friday y'all! It's crazy to me that this weekend is my last weekend at home before moving into my dorm at Clemson. This summer truly flew by and I'm excited for a weekend with my family and friends as we'll be going out on the lake and my family is going out to dinner. I will probably be doing a fair amount of packing too but I will be talking all about that in next week's My Chic Week post.

For now, grab an iced coffee or sweet tea and let's talk about this past week!

Friday morning, I slept in and got a few items checked off of my to-do list before going to my usual noon Pure Barre class. After class, I met up with a friend at a local juice bar to catch up over juice (a little healthier than our usual coffee-catchups!). We wound up doing a little shopping as well, which was so much fun!

My brother and I wound up shooting a few different outfits for blog posts Friday afternoon. I've been trying to get ahead with my blog content for my first few weeks at Clemson and I'm so excited to share this outfit below in particular!

Friday night was really laid back as we ordered pizza and then went to go get ice cream afterwards!

I took another Pure Barre Empower class on Sunday and then went to run a few errands afterwards. With move in day quickly approaching, I've started to realize random items that I need to have in my room, which makes for a few more Target runs than usual.

We went to Saturday night Mass so I decided to break out one of my favorite older Lilly Pulitzer shifts. I usually wear casual clothes for my nannying job (so athleisure or chinos and a top) so it was fun to wear one of the many dresses I have in my closet for a change.

Sunday morning, I went to an 8 AM Pure Barre class then went to Whole Foods to pick up a few essentials. I typically work on my blog posts for the week on Sunday so I did do a lot of planning ahead for Chic in Carolina Sunday morning and afternoon.

I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the pool with my family, which was amazing. My friends will definitely tell you I'm not very good at relaxing especially when I have things that I could still be doing. Sunday afternoon reminded me how important it is to relax and it was a great way to enjoy being at home before I move in.

I nannied Monday morning and then did a bit of blogging at home afterwards.

I went to barre at noon on Monday and after eating lunch once I got home, my mom and I started organizing everything I will be bringing with me to Clemson (aka "the pile" as it's taking up a large corner of our third floor). I have been shopping for my dorm all summer and think I have mostly everything so my mom and I were just organizing it into storage totes to make move-in day easier. This weekend, I want to start packing up my clothes so wish me luck on that one!

I nannied in the afternoon as well and we decided to go to Starbucks before the four year old I nanny's swim class began.

I nannied bright and early Tuesday morning and decided to stay at their house all day. I watched a few episodes of Big Little Lies and also went to one of my favorite spots in Charlotte, Dean & Deluca, for lunch as I love their Chicken Cesar Salad (and their vanilla lattes!).

I nannied Tuesday afternoon as well and wound up working later than usual so nothing too exciting to report back to y'all!

Wednesday, I was up bright and early again for work. I worked for a few hours and then went to a barre class. I then worked on yesterday's blog post (procrastination is real y'all) and nannied again in the afternoon!

I've been working in both the morning and the afternoon this week so Thursday was another similar day in terms of nannying.

After work, I went home to blog for a bit before going to a Pure Barre Empower class. Empower just started this month and I love that it's a cardio complement to a traditional PB class. I also nannied in the afternoon and it was an exciting one as it was one of the kiddos I nanny's last swim class of the summer.

On my Radar:

1. ONE WEEK TILL MOVE IN! I move into my dorm at Clemson in exactly a week and I'm so excited! I have a lot of packing to do before I go and I'm a little nervous but I know that once I get there, I will be busy as sorority recruitment begins the next day! I can't wait to share with y'all all about college and, of course, how I decorate my dorm room!

2. My friend Amy shared her Lilly Pulitzer After Party Size guide on her blog today, which is a must read! I shared a similar post on the blog last summer and it is my most popular blog post to this day so be on the lookout for an updated version soon

3. The best video that I've seen all week

4. I loved reading Grace's Blogging Q&A earlier this week

5. My Lilly Pulitzer robe came in the mail this week and I am obsessed with it! It was definitely a splurge but it is so luxurious and makes getting ready in the morning feel so much more glamorous!

Happy Friday!

  1. I nannied for about 10 years and that is what helped me have a good amount of money compared to other people my age right out of college. The fact that it is cash & off the books is incredible! I still keep in contact with the family I used to watch.

  6. I love working on the floor too! Or cross-legged in my bed haha. Everyone gets mad at me for it and asks how I can possibly work like that! I forgot you're going to Clemson... my brother's ex-girlfriend Mya is going there also (she's the same age as you!) maybe you'll somehow cross paths with her. She's super sweet and I think y'all would get along! I'm also obsessed with your skort/ruffle shirt outfit it's SO cute! Have the best time at college, it's really an amazing time in your life savor every moment!
