Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Tips + Fit Guide

Tuesday, January 2, 2018

One of the best sales is coming to a computer near you because the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale (APS) starts tomorrow! You have probably noticed that Lilly Pulitzer doesn't offer a sale section on their website like other retailers do but they do two big online sales a year (one in January and one in August).

Make a list
Before the sale, I always like to make a list of items that I'm hoping to snag in the sale. This makes it easier to shop as I'm on the lookout for these particular items rather than looking through every single item that is in the sale.

If possible, shop in store
Lilly Pulitzer retail stores will be having the sale in-stores and it is definitely a good option as you'll be able to try on the items before buying them (especially since the online sale is final sale, meaning no exchanges and returns) and they typically allow returns on sale items too!

Make an account and stay logged in
Before the sale begins, be sure to make an account on the Lilly website and enter all of your billing and shipping information. This helps so much as your items are not reserved until you check out completely so having to enter all of your information risks loosing some of the items in your cart. The Lilly website typically closes a hour before the sale starts (so at 7 AM since the sale starts at 8) so be sure to create an account before then and stay logged in!

Get in line early (and don't refresh once you're in line)
A few years back, Lilly implemented the virtual line, meaning everyone who wants to shop the sale has to wait in a virtual queue before entering the website. I typically get onto the website early, refresh once the clock hits 8 AM, and then once I get my spot in line, I stay there. Don't click refresh once you're in line because that will put you at the back of the line again.

Shop on multiple devices
Since it doesn't help to refresh your browser, I usually shop on multiple devices to see which one will let me into the sale the quickest. I typically shop on my phone, computer, or iPad and some years, the app has had no wait compared to the mobile website.

Check out quickly
Just because an item is in your cart doesn't mean that it is "reserved" so be sure to check out quickly yet efficiently as once you check out, you'll be placed at the back of the virtual line!

Remember it's just a sale
Even though the deals are great, it is still just a sale. The world will not end if you don't snag that one particular shift dress or a new cashmere sweater so keep that in mind and enjoy shopping!

I typically include this in a separate post but I always love sharing a fit guide with y'all for this sale. Since it is final sale, you can't return anything after you purchase it so hopefully this will help if you're unsure of what size to purchase in the sale. For reference, I'm 5'7 and typically a size 4 or a small!

Item Name: Sophiletta Dress
Size Worn: Small
Fit Review: TTS. This dress is supposed to be a bit looser but I found it really flattering and comfortable!

Item Name: Allair Maxi Beach Dress
Size Worn: X-Small
Fit Review: Runs big. This dress is absolutely gorgeous but I did have to size down and it was still pretty long on me (I'm 5'7 but it would probably be better wearing wedges or heels instead of sandals haha)

Item Name: Franni Set
Size Worn: 4
Fit Review: TTS. I have never really been a big crop top girl but this set is so cute. The shorts are loose and comfortable and I love that it doesn't show too much of your stomach either!

Item Name: Kelby Stretch Shift Dress
Size Worn: 2
Fit Review: Runs large. This dress is on the boxy side, which is why I sized down but I am not the biggest fan of the fit.

Item Name: Emilia Wrap Dress
Size Worn: Small
Fit Review: TTS and so flattering!

Item Name: Jackie Silk Shift Dress
Size Worn: Small
Fit Review: TTS

Item Name: Ophelia Swing Dress
Size Worn: X-Small
Fit Review: I have an Ophelia dress from a few seasons back (which I styled here) in a XS so that's what I grabbed in this dress. It is a bit tighter than my other Ophelia but I don't think I would size up

Item Name: Bay Shift Dress
Size Worn: Small
Fit Review: TTS. This dress is gorgeous on and is so flattering!

Item Name: Fresca Sweater
Size Worn: Small
Fit Review: Runs small. This is my usual size and it is a bit shorter in length plus tighter than I usually like for my sweaters.

Item Name: Caia Romper
Size Worn: 6
Fit Review: This romper was in the sale section when I tried it on and they didn't have my usual size (4) so I tried on both the 2 and the 6. The 2 was too small and the 6 was a bit too large so I think the 4 would of been perfect!

Item Name: Matilda Silk Top
Size Worn: Small
Fit Review: TTS. This top is structured similarly to my favorite Elsa top but has a gorgeous bell sleeve. So gorgeous on!

Will you be shopping the sale this year? What pieces do you hope to snag? Let me know in the comments!
