This time last year, I shared my 2016 goals with y'all and I figured it would be the perfect time to do a little reflecting on those and then share my 2017 goals as well!
School
stress less // I would definitely say that I have gotten better at this one but there is also room for improvement. Both the end of junior year and the start of senior year were fairly stressful but I'm hoping that second semester senior year will bring a slightly less hectic schedule!
take on a few more leadership roles // A big check next to this one! In February, I became the Treasurer of my school's chapter of the National Honor Society and then in March, I became the Vice President of the Service Committee, which I have been a member of since my freshman year. This has definitely made my schedule a bit busy between meetings and general work for both of these groups but it has been so fulfilling and I can't believe it's almost time for me to pass on my roles!
apply for college! // When I wrote this last year, I obviously knew that it would happen but it is so exciting to have all my applications turned in (I only have 2 scholarship applications to do now) and to be accepted into 4 out my 7 schools that I applied to (more about that here and here). I can't wait to share where I'll be attending school in the fall in 2017!
Blogging
grow // This one was a bit more open ended but I would definitely say Chic in Carolina grew in 2016. I reached 1,000 followers on Instagram in August, which definitely was a big goal of mine. All of this wouldn't be possible without y'all and I'm so excited to see where 2017 takes Chic in Carolina!
post more on social media // Even though I could definitely post more, I think that I have done fairly well on this one as I try to post on Instagram daily and several times throughout the day on Twitter. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest, Facebook, and Bloglovin' as well!
Fitness
workout more // As y'all know, I started going to Pure Barre in June (which you can read about here) and that has really helped me get into a routine of working out. Barre classes are such a great workout and are a bit more fun than just running on the treadmill for me. I'm about to hit my 100th class so I'll be doing more of a reflection of my first 100 classes when I hit that mark (hopefully in January!).
have a healthier diet // There's definitely room for improvement on this one in 2017 haha!
Lifestyle
travel more // Another check! I have been so lucky to travel a ton this year to both new and old places. I went to Florida to spent Easter with my family, to New York City to celebrate my 17th birthday with my mom (posts here, here, and here), to Virginia for my youngest cousin's First Communion, to Savannah and Charleston with my school, to Hawaii for our big summer trip (posts here, here, here, here, and here), to my family's lake house in Upstate New York (posts here and here), and to Florida after Christmas. In terms of college trips, I toured Clemson, Wake Forest (two times- here and here), Elon, UGA, High Point (two times- here and here), Furman, and UNC.
enjoy the city of charlotte more // It's so funny looking back on this post and seeing how much in my life has changed over the course of the year. In February, I started nannying for a family in Charlotte and as a result, I have spent a lot of time in the city! Over the summer, I especially was able to explore some new-to-me places and attending various blogging meetups (like going outlet shopping, to the botanical garden, and apple picking!) have helped me to do this even more!
School
stress less // This goal is a bit familiar from my 2016 ones as I still believe there is room to improve with this. Hopefully second semester senior year will help me out with this haha!
graduate with straight A's // I have been so close to making this accomplishment the past couple of semesters (thanks AP Lang and Calc), but I would love to close out my high school career with straight A's.
decide on a college + graduate // This one is kind of a given but will be a big part of my year so I wanted to include. I have narrowed it down to 3 schools but I'm still waiting to hear back from a few more so it will be a few more months before I decide but I am so excited for that and to graduate as well.
find a good balance in college // One of the things I've heard about college is how easy it is to become unbalanced with everything going on as it's so easy to spend all your time in the library and constantly be in "school mode" since you're "always" at school. I definitely want to avoid this and have a good balance of both studying and doing well in class and also having fun and meeting new friends!
Blogging
continue to grow // 2016 was a big year for Chic in Carolina and I would love for it to grow even more in 2017!
post more consistently // I aim to have a new blog post go up for y'all every weekday morning at 8 AM and honestly if I don't preschedule those posts over the weekend, they don't go up at all. Especially since I will be entering into college this fall, I want to work on posting more consistently and having less random breaks in posting content for y'all.
reach 2,500 instagram followers // I reached 1,000 Instagram followers back in August and "in my mind", 2,500 is the next milestone number for me to reach. I would love for y'all to help me out and follow me here!
redesign the blog // This has been on my radar for a while and I think 2017 is the perfect year to finally redesign the blog as I'm about to hit 2 years of blogging in March!
Fitness
reach 250 pure barre classes // This one is a bit of a stretch as I'm currently just under 100 classes but I would love to reach 250 Pure Barre classes by the end of the year. This one will be a bit tricky because I will not be home all fall since I'll be off at college but hopefully I'll be able to accomplish this between the end of my senior year, the summer, and when I'm home on various breaks.
eat less sweets // I have a major sweet tooth and dessert is a major temptation for me. I know I cannot cut it out entirely out of my diet but cutting back on sweets will definitely make my diet be healthier.
Lifestyle
read more // I've taken AP English the past two years, which has brought a ton of reading for that class (a book every week or two). Because of that, I typically don't read a ton outside of class for fun. I added reading 20 books to my 101 in 1001 list and that has definitely helped me read more but I would love to read even more books in 2017!
balance my sleep schedule // 2016 was not good in terms of getting a lot of sleep. In both my junior and senior years, I have had a heavy course load, meaning a lot of assignments to do and tests to study for, and with work, I often don't finish everything I need to do until fairly late. In 2017, I want to definitely work on getting to bed at a decent hour every night because I definitely get cranky without enough sleep!
be a better friend // Especially with college right around the corner, I want to work on being a better friend for both my current friends and the ones I'll meet in the fall. Whether this is remembering birthdays while off at college or planning more hang out times with friends, this one is so important!

Now that we've recapped how I did with last year's goals, let's talk about my goals for 2017!
